Title: New here seeking advice from others.
Post by: NeedingHelp71 on October 30, 2014, 01:03:59 PM
Hello everyone. I joined this site in hopes of getting advice and help from others. I don't know where else to go. My story. I'm 43 years old and was born a man. I'm married to a biologically born woman.

It started when I was 12 years old. I found myself dressing in my mother's clothes when she was at work. I can't even explain how it felt. When I dressed, it felt so right. This went on for a few years. One day I just stopped doing it. I figured it was just a phase I was going through.

I now find I want to dress again. When I look into the mirror, I see a man's face and body. Deep inside I feel as a woman. I believe women are beautiful and vision myself as one. I also have sexual attraction to women and men. Am I just a Crossdresser or TV? Am I Transsexual? Can you live your life being part-time male and part-time female? I have a million questions. I don't know where to begin. I need some friends.

To start off, I'm very unhappy. I'm in a situation where I don't even know where to begin. Is it possible to live as a man part-time and woman part-time? Can someone be content living like this?

I need to do this badly. How do I start? Where do I begin?

Welcome to Susan's Place, NeedingHelp71

You have made a great first step on your journey.  Please feel free to look around and explore.   This site is a vast source of information that will help you along the way.

In the meantime, please review the following:

The answers to your questions lie within, and the best way to find them is with the aid of a therapist who specializes in gender issues.

I began my journey two years ago at the age of 43 myself.  Feel free to PM me any time after you reach the requisite 15 posts.

Hugs,
Jill

A big warm welcome to Susan's place...! I agree with Jill a therapist would be a great way to start. I've started my transition at 50 so it's never to late. You have to be veryHonest with yourself and with your therapist to discover whether this is the road that you want to take although it can be very rewarding. It is a very long and sometimes hard road to travel. So you really do need to do some soul-searching to discover whether or not you are a cross-dresser or transsexual. Whether you're attracted to men or women really does not matter. We all come in different sizes, shapes and personalities. Only you can answer these questions will with the help of a gender therapist. I wish you to best of luck sweetie. I hope this is helped answer some your questions. There are a lot of wonderful people here with a lot of wisdom and support, so all you need to do is pull up a chair look around and ask anything of us will. We are here to help and support.

Hugs,

Melissa Ann

Hi and welcome to Susan's Place! Do you have a name for us to use?  I live my life somewhere between man and woman, you can too, if that's your path. See you around the site!

Hugs, Devlyn

Hello Katie!

I agree with the above.

As for your questioning... what worked for me was this: I went away for a trip in another place, walked the beach shore, and listened to my feelings without any distractions. Being in another place -alone- is a good way to connect to yourself. Try to go within, and do the soul searching. Eventually it will click. And whatever the answer may be, if it feels right on the heart/soul level, then that might be true. At first I identified as androgynous, a year later of soul searching I finally admitted I was a woman sitting on the androgynous fence, too scared to come off it. To be honest to yourself is very difficult, but ultimately life changing, whatever the outcome.

Its nice to meet all of you. I'm just feeling all alone right now. I don't have anyone to talk to. Do any of you know where I can find others? As much as I appreciate all of your support, I would like to spend time with someone in person as well. I want to make friends. I want to go somewhere local where transgender is openly accepted. Am I allowed to attach a picture of myself to this post?

You may post a photo or link to one. You will have to use a hosting site in either case.  Please refer to the link in Jill F's post regarding photos, avatars and signatures.

It would help to know where you are!

You could always google transgender support sites in your city. They are safe places to go (usually)
