Hi girls!
So here is my situation: I think my face looks generally fine and hormones have definitely feminised me. I pass as female in my daily life and have not had issues since going full time. However, one thing I really hate is my nose which is quite big and crooked and it just makes me want to puke at times even though most people say it suits my face and doesn't look ugly. Needless to say, I am convinced I am going to have rhinoplasty as soon as possible.
My dilemma is whether to go to an FFS surgeon or a regular surgeon who specialises in nose jobs. I don't want ffs work just a nose job. Has anyone had only one such procedure done and what surgeon did you go to???
Primrose,
I would think just going to a plastic surgeon would be sufficient for rhinoplasty, after all, they will do what you want to your nose. I really don't think you need to go to a FFS surgeon. I myself have not had nor do I plan on having FFS at this time, anyway, these are just my thoughts. I wish you nothing but the best of luck on your journey and may the Angels look upon you and help guide you on your path.
Hugs,
Melissa Ann
Hi Primrose,
I had my first rhinoplasty in 1990 ( long before FFS) with Dai Davies in London and I turned down an alarplasty because I was concerned about scarring.
When I had my FFS with Dr Zukowski 14 years later in 2004, he said that he could improve my nose and suggested an alarplasty together with an upper lip lift.
His upper lip lift was successful with minimal scarring but the alarplasty far less successful with poor scarring and a vertical raised crease (called a subdermal lesion) below my right alars. He also gave me his stock shorter nose like many of his patients at the time, so we all look related. In fact one of my friends and I were attending an event and a lady I know asked if my friend was my daughter !!!
Nowadays his noses seem far better.
So in short, I see no problem you going to a specialist rhinoplasty surgeon but if you feel that you need an upper lip lift ask him or her about their experience with this procedure.
Also a new nose needs to match the rest of your face and forehead (especially if you have forehead work done).
Hope this helps.

Hi again Primrose,
What country do you live in?
On FFS Support some members went to a surgeon in the USA called Dr Denenberg in Omaha, Nebraska who is highly rated.
See: http://www.facialsurgery.com/PPgdrdenenberg.htm
Also there is a lady called Alexandra in the UK who runs Virtual FFS and she is brilliant advising people on what they need or don't need.
See her website: http://www.virtualffs.co.uk/
If Zukowski had followed her advice when I showed him her suggestion as to how my nose should look, then I would have been far happier than I am now.
Poor surgery can really damage a person's confidence and appearance.

Hi Paula,
Thanks so much for the links and info. I'm based in London and the prices here seem outrageous compared to other places in Europe. Apart from Musgrove and Keith Altman I am not aware of other ffs surgeons in the UK and those two charge quite a lot for simplest of procedures.
Good morning Primrose,
I agree regarding prices here in the UK. That is why we are called 'Rip Off UK' ... LOL ;D
The problem with Mr Musgrove is that he is too conservative and that's OK with patients who are very feminine to begin with but no good for girls who need more aggressive work to remove masculine features. The last thing anybody needs is to look guyish still.
Keith Altman I know nothing about.
Join FFS Support and despite it being a mere shadow of it's former self due to Yahoo's new 'Neo' format, like this forum it's a great place to get information on surgeons based in Europe, Asia and the USA.
Do contact Alexandra as she is brilliant in giving FFS advice and also knows a lot about all the surgeons, their results and their techniques. She is also very active on FFS Support.
Hugs

Hi Primrose
A well-regarded general plastic surgeon will really be quite good enough. Just get references, and when you meet to discuss, be clear about the result you would like.
Forget about what people say about your nose suiting your face. Also, don't fall into the transwoman tendency to over-compensate. Aim for a natural result that will be in harmony with your features.

I had my rhinoplasty done by a regular specialized surgeon, the results were great and he made sure it worked with my facial structure... A lot of people can't tell I had a rhinoplasty done and it looks really pretty :) I used to hate it :-\
I think that, since you want only one surgery done, you should go to a surgeon who is a specialist on that surgery so you can get the best possible result rather than going to an FFS surgeon who might be great, but isn't as specialized in that specific surgery. You just need to tell him that you want it to look more feminine, along with a other results you expect.
If you have the money available for this, definitely go to FFS surgeon with great rhinoplasty results.
