Title: First Endo. Appointment Set
Post by: Lylapanda on November 11, 2014, 02:56:59 PM
My first endocrinologist appointment is set for February 4th! :D It is a long time away, but I am so happy to have made it this far! It seems like just yesterday I was at the base of a mountain and HRT was at the top. Now I am so close I can hardly wait! I just wanted to share, but I guess I can throw in a question. What can I expect? Will I at least be prescribed anti-androgens immediately? I hardly understand the endo. process, so please do share!

Lylapanda,

At my first appointment I was prescribed just  estradiol and two weeks later, I was given spiro it really depends on your endocrinologist. Congratulations on getting your appointment. Something to look forward to in the new year that time will fly by faster than you think. I wish you the best of luck on your journey and may the Angels always look upon you and help guide you on your path.

Hugs,

Melissa Ann

my first appointment was last Monday all I did at that appointment was get blood work and talk to her about what to expect and then a second appointment was set up for two weeks from then which is coming up next Monday just so excited I can't wait,  at my second appointment will be discussing the benefits and drawbacks of hormones and at that point she will prescribe an estrogen patch and a testosterone blocker not quite sure what the names are she told me but I had so much on my mind at that time I couldn't remember. best advice I have gotten from everybody here is to just go there and be yourself

The Endo is just one factor in determining that, but your health and how the blood tests turn out is another.. I was prescribed the estradiol first before having Spiro added 6 weeks later due to we had to make sure my kidney's could handle Spiro.

If you haven't yet, you could call ahead and ask what tests the doctor will want and try to get those taken care of ahead of time. That's what I did. Might save you a visit and may be able to start sooner:).
