Title: Brassard Surgery date, finally. Now, how to make payment?
Post by: ainsley on November 13, 2014, 09:41:29 AM
Well, I finally got a completed file and qualified for surgery with Brassard, per Suzanne.  8/31/2015 is the day -roughly 9 1/2 months from now.  It's like I am pregnant and expecting, so my wife says. lol

Suzanne told me she would send the confirmation letter in the Spring.  A bit disconcerting, but since it is that far off, maybe that is closer to the time they would send that out...?  So, I asked her if I could send roughly half of the money in now (before something comes up and it gets reallocated...), and she said yes, just send a certified check or money order.  Here's my question:  How does that work with the exchange rate?  Do I get one in US funds and when they deposit it the funds are converted by the depositing bank?

Any girls that paid Brassard from outside Canada, please help me.  I asked Suzanne via email, but do not expect much definitive help from her, for some reason. lol  She is nice, but her brevity in her emails almost annoys me.

Ask your bank if they do international certified checks?

You might have to go to a larger banking branch.

It can be done just need to find a bank.

Congrats on the date.

Suzi keeps back on confirmation due to possible earlier date due to cancellations.

Relax and everything will work out.

Thanks! I am trying to relax. ;)
Funny thing is, I am having my breast augmentation a week from tomorrow, and all I can think about is the bottom surgery in Montreal next year. ha!

I guess I will have to call my bank and see about the exchange rate process with certified checks.  It has been a logistical challenge to get this all in place, so I have become a bit retentive about things lately....heh.

I just went through my bank; it was easier for me in one way, because only one bank in the whole area did international money orders (and it wasn't mine - they had to use Bank of America to get it done for me!). So I got kinda screwed on the exchange rate and fees, but at least I didn't have to obsess about getting the perfect deal.

They cut the check and mailed it for me, and all told the fees + rate markup probably cost me a couple hundred bucks. Not great, but not catastrophic compared to the total price, either.

Good to know, Jenna.  I will start with my bank.  The exchange rate is really in my favor right now, too. :)
I did get a reply from Suzanne and she said to ask for payment in CDN funds, and if I could not get that then she would reimburse the difference in US funds for me.
