Title: Nipple piercing
Post by: Danielle Emmalee on November 13, 2014, 05:58:03 PM
Hi, just wondering if anyone has had nipple piercings before starting hrt.  I'm wanting to get mine done and wondering if I should be waiting until further into HRT or if they will be fine to have throughout HRT.  I'm about 8 weeks in, no nipple or breast growth yet.

Serious question here..

WY would you want to do that?  Nipples are wonderful and beautiful things that deserve respect and to be played with at least every day.

Because piercings are hot and I like them.

to each their own Hon and for millennials tats and piercings are way cool.  I have a friend who has one that is somewhat removable as needed for cleaning or expansion.  She says it actually increases her sensitivity and is "a fun play thing"

OK, I've heard this from a professional piercer-  don't do it until they are done growing.  I mean, several years of HRT and after BA if you need it.  They will migrate and end up asymmetrical.

Oh, and OWWWW!!!

I want several piercing/tats. But im definitely gonna wait on both partially because of finances and part because of breast growth and weight gain that might happen.

Ill probably get a few facial piercings soon though

I kind of want to get my breasts tattooed... I should probably wait until all potential growth has stopped for that, too, though. Don't want the image to get stretched out and odd looking. :P

Did I just make Devlyn pass out again? :D

So you want a tittoo?

Anyway, reminds me of a story from college.  I knew a lot of football players who took steroids, as it was pretty much an unwritten requirement if you wanted to actually play.  One guy I knew was a 5'4" running back and had a Mighty Mouse tat on his shoulder.  After the 'roids kicked in, it looked more like "Mighty Wharf Rat", or some other rodent of unusual size.  I wonder what it looks like now.

Do you have any tattoos, Jill? You seem like someone who would have tattoos.

Because it takes a good year for nipple piercings to fully heel (but you can do mild thing to them after 6 months) you definitely want to wait until after HRT. Mine were pierced 5 years prior to HRT. I asked my HRT doctor about it, and she said it should not be a problem and most of the time it's not as long as you've had them for a number of years. 11 months HRT and so far so good. They are super sensitive, but yes I love them and I've had to put longer barbells in twice since the width keeps growing. My HRT doctor does check them on every visit just to make sure. I may have to have me left one re-done because the piercer didn't go as far back as I like. The right one looks perfect.

Pre hrt, it was OUCH! very OUCH!     Post hrt, the though of it makes me cringe.
I don't think there would be major issues with a nipple piercing though, just be aware that as the nipple goes through its changes, it will likely not be exactly where it was intended to be...
my advice: pierce far back, get longer jewelery... and hope for tge best

I would wait a good long while.  The amount of nipple sensitivity I have is ridiculous for how little growth there has been.  The slightest brush can be anything from electrifying to painful, I could only imagine a piercing would increase that.

I just thought ouch and then said ouch out-loud when I read this topics name!  Well my suggestion is this consider a Tattoo when your skin stretches it goes all blurry so consider when your nipples get bigger will the pierce be in the same place it start :D. Better yet will its hole not become awkwardly shaped/sized from the growth? Well I have no clue so good luck!

Actually, not a single one.  I have rocked a nostril piercing since 1991 though.  Maybe I'll get sleeved when I'm like 80, just so I have the baddest ink in the nursing home though.

I asked the girl who does my piercings about getting the nips done before starting Hrt and she said not to do it.
Simply because of the uncertainty of how things will grow and settle and stuff.

I'm also one that has a tattoo on my left pec currently. Terrified how it will all look once they start growing.
Also a little worried about the ribs and the one on my butt  :-\

I have a sunshine tat on my right arm and as the muscle mass has changed my sun has set and sagged a bit.  Hard to know at 15 yo what our future will bring but yes tats are way more permanent than piercings.

Years ago I had nipple piercings but took them out long ago. My nipples are still growing even 17 months on HRT. So I would wait a while to get pierced. Also, the old locations on the nipple would not be the correct location now :) I also had the head of my penis pierced ( level 10 pain) and shaft skin in 2 locations ( no real pain).

I have 4 tats and 3 are large and all are not masculine ( clouded leopards, tiger and spotted panther). My tats took a very long time and the pain was manageable the piercings had an high pain but the duration was very short so manageable.

I was just thinking I would love to have my nips pierced again and my belly button :)

I second the belly button piercing!

I had a nipple piercing years ago also, but it got ripped out during a bit of a scuffle so now I have a rather odd looking split nipple  :)  But silly me, I've been thinking about getting another one  8)

I'm not sure if it is better to just go for it or to wait a few years after starting HRT because there is a good chance that the nipples may expand along with your breast growth, my nipples have become at least twice as large after 5 or 6 years and so I would guess it to be better to wait

It may surprise a lot of people, but several women get nipple piercings

I'm totally thinking the same thing many have said. With the pain and sensitivity that comes from growing, I can only imagine a puncture wound there. I haven't put much thought into how my tattoos will change...

I actually have both nipples pierced - both were in for years before starting HRT.  I've not noticed any negative changes or movement to the piercings, even though I'm going through breast development.  Unless the piercer really goes deep into the areola, I don't see an issue.  Mine were pierced in my male-phase - even with the right nipple pierced deeper than the left (right at the base of the nipple/top of the areolar junction), I've not had issues.  I can feel the glandular disc just enough below the piercing.

I guess it also depends if you're nipples/areola will actually widen out while on HRT - mine haven't, so I've not needed to place wider rings.  Growing nipples shouldn't really be a big deal, though...I mean, well-endowed women have been getting nip pierced for a while, so I don't really see any difference or issue if you need to keep switching out, plus, it will give you a reason to try new designs, metals, or colors.  Mine are simple titanium 14g full hoops.

I love my piercings - evidently so does everyone else who's been lucky enough to find out...
