Title: Online Dating
Post by: primrose on November 16, 2014, 02:16:37 PM
I decided to try online dating and been on and off some sites for a couple of months now. I must say that this whole online dating sucks big time and is very tedious and time consuming. I've tried POF, Tinder, OkCupid, and transgenderdate. The first two I quickly got rid of since they're quite rubbush with random local freaks popping up. I've stayed in OkCupid and while it seems decent I get very few profile views and rarely anyone messages me :( I must say my pics are quite good and do get compliments. Transgenderdate is fine but very US oriented; very few guys from the UK and mostly ->-bleeped-<-s and sleazy creeps.

I'm at my wits end with this game yet I'm rather keen to meet people. What has your experience been with online dating and which sites would you recommend, especially for straight transwomen?

Sadly this is a common lament. I think many cis women would have similar issues with creeps, it is just frequently magnified for us.

I used oasis to find my current gf. Although it may only worked bcos we both identified as gay at the time. Just keep trying, which I know sounds cheesy, but online dating does and can work.

I have personally had the most luck with OkCupid. Just be very clear in your profile about who you are and what you're looking for. I also had a rule about not messaging people first because of how I identify, but that was mostly because I didn't want to deal with constant rejection.

Tinder worked well for conversation, but I was never comfortable enough to meet anyone.

I have never used it, but a lot of the guys in the Facebook groups I'm a part of have had a great deal of success on Fetlife, which is a kink-oriented social network/dating site. I plan on checking it out at some point just to see how valid their statements are, but not sure I'll stick around since that stuff isn't necessarily what I'm looking for in a relationship.

Found pretty much the same thing you found. OKCupid is the best, but getting responses is like pulling teeth. Why the #{!! would someone post a profile and then never answer any messages?

Haven't tried transgenderdate. Might be worth looking into.

Okcupid was really good because it gave the option to hide my profile from straight people....that being said if I read it correctly the op is a straight transwoman so that wouldn't be so helpful lol. I had some cool people message me and everyone I messages responded to me. I found someone I was interested in and learned I can't really be interested in more than one person at a time so I disabled my okcupid so all I have to do is login to get it back.

To be fair though the person I am interested I met via Wing Ma'am which isn't really useful to straight women.
