Title: Needlecraft as my next step to showing my girly side
Post by: Rosemary on November 17, 2014, 02:02:55 PM
I consider myself a mild crossdresser, no skirts or dresses in public, I'm more a flowery blouses and pastel cardies kinda girl. This gets me the odd second look. I'm now trying to choose a hobby, perhaps to get me that third look, so I'd like to know your opinion on which needleart would best achieve that. I'm thinking about sewing, embroidery, cross-stitch, knitting and crochet. Which would be considered less acceptable for a macho male?I suppose I'm really trying to out myself very gradually.

I like the idea, Rosemary. Everybody has in mind what they wish to be and I like what you are striving for. I like styles from the 1940s and 1950s and wish that I could make my own clothes.

:)

Sorry if I throwing a wrench in the works, but historically speaking many, if not all, of the activities you listed have been carried out by both men and women.  It may be considerably less common today, but I don't think it would make a very strong statement other than you are a creative, artsy kind of individual.  Just my two pence worth... and it may be worth even less.

No wrench, I'm aware of how things were historically. I think it would still make a statement in my community so that could be what I need.
