Title: Hi (can't think of a title, sorry)
Post by: Valleyrie on November 18, 2014, 08:48:48 PM
So I plan to get a job and start saving for a few surgies but I was just wondering how much grs is? I know the prices probably range depending on who and where you get it but is there an average someone can give me? Also, I'd like to go to Yeson's one day and I have a very protruding Adam's apple and someone told me not to get a trachea shave if I'm going to. Is this true? Thank you!

I good overall average for GCS (MtF) is $20,000. That is surgery alone and not airfare, hotel and other expenses. Someone else will have to give you Yeeson info.  :)

Thank you Jessica! I've been feeling so hopeful lately and like I have something to work towards and look forward to. I'm willing to work my butt off for all this and I think I'm going to. That seems like a reasonable price, I'm so tied up about which one I'd get first. xD

Just my opinion, but I would get the one hardest to heal from (GCS) while you are as young as possible to aid healing times.

GCS costs in the United States tend to run from about $18K to $25K. There are a few outliers in either direction but I'd avoid those. There's no reason to pay that guy in San Diego $35K for GCS just because his ego is so large. And the few US surgeons charging less than $18K have less than stellar reputations.

However, GCS in Bangkok, Thailand from most of the surgeons there (except Suporn) is generally about $9K. I've seen some at $8900, some as high as $9300 and lots in between from different surgeons over the last two years. (I've sort of watched this topic both here and elsewhere and collected averages.)

Most people can do round trip to Thailand, one month food and lodging, plus the GCS itself from $14K-$17K total and that's everything. The US prices above do not include travel, food, lodging, or other extraneous expenses. The US prices above are strictly for the surgery but usually do include hospital costs and anesthesia costs.

Yeson, for VFS, seems to consistently run in the $11K-$13K and you could spend a little more if you splurge for the 10 days or so you'll be there. And that is also everything.

FFS varies drastically based on surgeon, inside or outside the US, and which procedures you have done so you really need to get a consultation and a direct price quote for FFS. But you can expect to pay between $15K and $45K for FFS. There's just a wide variety there.
