L.A. Weekly has published an in-depth report that invites readers into a segregated wing of the Los Angeles County Men's Central Jail, which houses gay and transgender inmates separately from the general population.

"Occupants of K6G are given light blue prison jumpsuits to distinguish them from the general population"

I can't help being reminded of this:

(https://www.susans.org/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fiusboverseas.files.wordpress.com%2F2014%2F01%2Fpink-triangle-armband.jpg&hash=de0beaa82ab84fcece232f3826ddd167de628a53)

I get that the intent and (short-term) effect of this jail ward is the opposite of that triangle (KZ prisoners didn't exactly volunteer for the pink triangle), but even so, it's a form of segregation that should ideally be unnecessary. It helps in the short term, but it also helps cement the pattern of violence against LGBT people in jail/prison. It saddens me that it's necessary.
