Used a mapping app. to look up the address where I spent 6 years of my childhood, brought back a lot of memories both good and bad
So much has changed it took awhile to decide if I'd looked up the right place, but yeah, that was the house and that was the neighborhood
Had a really cool Halloween/Birthday party and wore a Spider-Man costume
The tree in the front yard where I attempted to hang myself had been removed (Hence it's extremely triggering when someone says "Hang in there" or variations thereof)
I'm not sure, but it looked like my favorite BMX trail has been re-opened and that reminded me of building my first BMX bike using the frame from a Schwinn that one of the 'Rich Kids' had discarded because he'd f-ed up the front wheel and forks so his folks bought him a new one
The guy who attempted to abduct me just a few houses away from my house when I was returning from my paper route has apparently hanged himself in prison
Child molester who hanged himself called 'most evil person' (http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/lanow/2012/05/child-molester-who-hung-himself-was-most-evil-person-cop-says.html)
That sounds like bit of a scary trip. Although you in a spider-man costume would be cool.
Yes, "Good times bad times, you know I've had my share" and sometimes were pretty scary, but it does feel awkwardly good to have some closure on a couple of things
Wow VM - some good and not so good memories there. Thank heavens that guy wasn't successful in his attempt to abduct you!
I've done the same as you on a mapping app. I recently went and did a street view on a place where I lived as a child. My memories of that place are one way, but the reality I saw on the mapping site seems a lot....... different...... than my memories. I guess that we really do tend to have selective memories.
I had my share of junk cobbled together bicycles as a kid too
