Title: Fatigue/tiredness after hormone level adjustment
Post by: Monica Jean on November 26, 2014, 12:59:43 PM
Early last week, my doctor so my blood work and was okay with upping the dosage of estrogen.

Yay me!

However, since then my eyes have been hanging and I've been very tired nearly every day and night the last 9 nights since the boost in E.

Curious to see if others have experienced the same symptoms and if you remember, how long do those same symptoms last?

When I first started E I had that for a week or so.

I think that's a sign of low T (aka, estrogen dominance). I have the same problem. I'm always pretty sleepy.

E has always given a boost to my metabolism especially once I started injections. The best advice I can give would be to voice your concerns to your Endo/Doctors.

That being said, I've noticed many others report a drop in energy levels upon starting hrt with Estradiol that lasts about a week to ten days then subsides after the body adjusts. Of course this may be different or YYMV. Again your best bet is to voice your concerns to your Doctors. You could have low iron, be borderline anemic, and a whole slew of other underlying reasons you've experienced a drop in your energy levels whic they are equipped to test for.

I agree, talk to you Doctor. I knew when my T dropped, it dropped like a rock and my endurance and stamina reduced and I tired easy. I adjusted to the meds in a few weeks.

I'm just starting my 2nd week of HRT myself. I've felt like I need more sleep myself. I've been going to bed up to an hour earlier than normal while still struggling to get to work at the same time.

I don't know if its HRT related, but my dreams feel so much more vivid. It doesn't feel like I'm asleep and dreaming, but actually living. One day I woke up and was short of breath because I was running (I don't recall from what). My dream last night was pretty amazing though. I was about half my age, but present day back in high school but with the same car and computers and such. Everyone saw me as one of the girls. Total acceptance. Which actually isn't far from the truth. Other than 2 of my 3 sisters and the occasional glare, I've mostly experienced acceptance. I woke up actually feeling younger, but ready for bed.

It's common while your body readjusts but if it is impeding your ability to function and/or goes on for much longer definitely get it checked.

Post-op, E seems to be give me MORE energy, not less but perhaps in this case, it's the hormonal change and drop in T...a temporary thing. Who knows?!
