Title: How to get the confidence to speak in a higher voice in public?
Post by: TSJasmine on November 27, 2014, 09:26:55 PM
I basically speak the bio in the link lol I figure why not use the question as a way to also help train my voice?

You sound pretty confident as it is according to that video. You have a tendency to sing as the conversation goes on but it goes well with the rest of your voice.

Hmmm That's weird lol I seriously wasn't even trying to sing :> I'll have to work on that

It sounds good. Certain female voices have that ring to it. It makes it sound authentic.

What maters more is the confidence in your voice than the pitch.

You posted your voice before in the does my voice pass thread. I said you could increase your pitch but only because it is below average. That does not mean you have to. All that below average means is that more people speak with a higher pitch than you. Millions of women will be speaking with a voice the same pitch or lower than you.

Don't stress on it :)

My voice is still hit or miss, and toward the end of the day and i'm tired its more miss than hit. I don't have a naturally deep voice so that helps, but it is definitely not female sounding either IMO.

What I have found works well for me is (assuming that you have hit your female voice range before and know what it sounds like) is to have a brief mental routine you can do at any time to pre-raise the voice before you speak. For me it is hearing in my head what I know I can sound like, and then opening my mouth and producing the same sounds. Before I started doing that I'd have trouble hitting the notes that I wanted to hit as soon i started speaking, but ever since i've been doing my mental routine I can hit it every time right off the bat.

Now I need to work on strengthening my voice so that at the end of the day I can still hit those notes without dropping into raspiness and croaking.
