"Yesterday, transgender musician and singer-songwriter Our Lady J announced that she has joined the writing staff for Season 2 of Amazon's acclaimed show Transparent. Awesome."
I think that this is great news. It is always good when a transgender person gains visibility in an industry for the right reasons.
I watched the first season of the show and while i found bits of it a little campy I still enjoyed the show, and I thought that Maura was a pretty good portrayal of an older person going through transition. As an older transitioner myself I identified with a lot of what she went through.
:D :D

I did not enjoy the first 6 episodes. Maybe this development will change that, but I am doubtful. I rather watch Dexter, The walking dead etc... The idea was nice, but I found transparent to be a very confusing series.

I definitely feel that, especially the episode that's split between Maura's stress-inducing
Trans Got Talent lip-sync performance and Ali's fetish-fueled date with Syd. I didn't catch on to the fact that she more or less hallucinated the whole thing until I looked up a review of the episode. When she walked into his house the second time and everything was normal I was like "huh?" or to quote Hank Hill.. "HWOT?"
I really can't stand Jay Duplass' character Josh, or at least the way they're depicting him as being incapable of true love despite his childlike experimentation with all the different women. He finally meets someone where you can actually believe he's truly in love this time, and then they ->-bleeped-<- all over it. The most consistent and likable character is Maura. I'm not giving up on the show just yet, though. This was just the first season, and first seasons tend to be a little wobbly. Our Lady J just might help polish things up in season 2.
