Title: Odd Question for Postops
Post by: katiej on December 16, 2014, 01:51:56 PM
I have an odd question...

I was playing with my 7 year old today, and when he jumped on me my automatic reaction was to protect the groin area.  This is not a reaction women have... for obvious reasons.  So my question is , does that reflex ever go away after SRS?  :)

I hope so, but I'm also sure most women wouldn't want a kid jumping up and down on their vag!

Have to say women do also. There pubic bone also hurts when hit.

As for old reactions I would say in time they will go away.

Sometimes I still reach to push down when I use the bathroom. Nothing there but a long habit.

I think your question is good. Guess time will tell.

I've been told by many women that while its not as bad as being a guy, it still hurts and isn't fun. Better to get hit in the hand than in the vag.

Yes and no, which might not have seemed possible as an answer. :)

I pretty quickly lost the reflex to protect my nonexistent testicles... but I equally quickly developed the urge to shield a slightly different area, helped along by what I have affectionately nicknamed the "clitoris-stomping cat." It's basically impossible to get hit in the vagina and of course the area where testicles were is empty now, but that doesn't mean there aren't still some tender bits (a solid hit to the pubic bone also hurts like heck).

Of course, now it's hard to shield the nipples at the same time!

(I suppose the cat is getting her revenge - she used to like to use those bits as a shelf to stand on, and now she keeps trying to and falling through into my lap instead.)

Last night my dog wanted a lot of attention and her paws kept scratching my chest. I'm like this is going to be a problem when I've got breasts. In fact it was bad enough that today there are still scratches on my breast area. I'm hoping some day to be able to show off some cleavage, but if I had any today would not be the day for it.

awilliams : alas, you're right, it'll be a problem. Says the woman with a cat scratch alongside the nipple right now. :) It'll probably be REALLY ouchy, too.

Gawd, no. At least at about 6 months post-op my clitoris is tender and sensitive and I don't want anything near it.

I'm not as protective as I used to be. Here at 8 months to the day postop, I'm ready to resume horseback riding. Something that wasn't always ideal before.

Very funny responses, all!  Thanks!  :)

I was afraid I was asking a very awkward question...and it turns out it was awkward.

Not awkward at all! Pretty normal question, I'd think.

My reaction has gotten worse.  I'm still healing from surgery and pretty sore, so I have tried to protect my groin area.  This is particularly apparent when my dog tries to jump on me.  She got me good one day when I had been home from the hospital but a few weeks..

This is a funny question that I never thought to ask.  I've got one of those sets that are grotesquely huge enough to sit on occasionally and I always thought it would be nice not to have to worry about it and also be able to cross my legs without discomfort.

One more positive to think about, hah!

Alysha : You know what's funny and I never thought to ask, from this side of things? :) I love bicycling, and it never occurred to me that women with vulvas sit *directly on* their genitals when on a bike seat. Took me much, much longer to get back into it than I expected because of that... I automatically thought in terms of being able to push stuff out of the way, which of course doesn't work anymore!

well,  no  matter what down  yonder  in the  paw  paw  pacth, having  a  child  jump  on  it  aint  ever  fun.
there  is  a  slight  advantage  in  that  area  post  op,  providing  healing  is  complete,  but  it  still    can  hurt  like  the  dickens...

My reaction has increased and always will. I'm very protective of that area especially now even though my SRS was done years ago. I only have my siberian husky that jumps on me. I don;t mind as I love animals. At times I have wear 2 pair of underwear to protect myself in case of getting bumped, which came in handy one day while grocery shopping and another woman accidently bumped me down their with her shopping cart. No harm done. All good.

I'll take a kick in the lady bits over a punch in the boobs any day of the week lol.

Zumba, it's funny you should mention that.  I'm very newly on HRT, and in the last couple weeks I've had to learn to defend both areas at the same time.  I don't really even have boobs yet, but dang it hurts when the kids jump on me.

well. it's a new surgical recovery site for me so naturally I'm defensive of it  . my nephew who's five kind of fell on it yesterday while I was watching TV on the couch.

it was not as painful as being kicked in the nuts but it sudden unexpected pressure freaked me out and I went to the bathroom to check if I was alright

I have yet to experience getting hit in the boobs. For some reason, I've always been really protective of that area, even before I began transitioning. Maybe I always felt there should be boobs to protect on a subconscious level. But oh my gosh, everyone is making it sound so painful! I hope I never find out! *makes a mental note never to get a pet*
