Title: Recently Started Subq, normal side effects?
Post by: icesolidmind on December 17, 2014, 12:22:30 AM
I recently switched from IM to Subq injections. Good news is that my injecting anxiety has diminished and I was able to do the sub q injection on my stomach on my own! But, I did notice an itchy sensation around the injection site (not directly where I injected) and then the second time I also had the itching sensation below the injection site and also a slight tugging/pinching sensation around the lower area of where I injected. It wasn't something that I couldn't tolerate, but I was just wondering if these are normal effects after sub q injections in the stomach area. Thanks for all the help!

I do subq in the stomach and I tend to notice a bit of discomfort near the injection but not directly on it. Wouldn't describe it as itching but more like a pinching or sting or something. Sometimes it feels like there's pressure there. Since it happens to me almost every time and everything is going fine so far, I don't worry about it.

Yeah, that's pretty much what I've been feeling. Thanks for the reply!

Yeah, I get an itch or sometimes a bruised sensation right around the site, too. It isn't red/painful/swollen, so I figured it's okay.
