I just passed my first year on HRT. It's the beginning of another optimistic year. I have about 10 dresses and a few tops and jeans. My New Years resolution Is to finally purchase at least one real nice dress. I'm on a very tight budget , but I think the psychological benefits of a great dress are worth the sacrifice. Anyone else have plans to splurge on a incredible beautiful dress for the coming year.
As a consummate Thrift Store shopper with quite a few dress, skirts, plenty of tops and even some jeans I do splurge. For me spending any big $$$ is painful between my upbringing, current financial situation, and guilt since I am not full-time.
I take the same approach to clothes shopping as I do for my diet. I tend to gain weight from just smelling food. So I really watch what and how much I eat while never denying myself my treats. I even stuff myself on that occassional great dish I cook up, or pizza. Much the same for clothing. Most of my stuff comes from thrift shops yet I have spent upwards of $100 for a dress that I just had to have. Plus it looking GREAT on ME. I get some pangs of guilt but I remind myself of how little I do spend on clothes. When most of my dresses cost like $5-$10, how can I feel bad about spending $80? Sort like eating
I have 7 dresses right now but I'm starting to get worried that I won't fit in them this summer. I was pretty big and since I found out hypothyroid was making it hard to lose weight I've lost like 10 lbs already I'm not even sure it's been a full month. I might have to buy all new ones this spring.
I have a several dresses, most of them donated to me by friends shortly after I came out, but overall, there is only one dress I feel comfortable in. For whatever reason, dresses make me very self concious about my shoulders. Blouse and skirt? Just fine, dress, nope, I feel like I'd be clocked before I even got out the door >_<
I've been buying all my dresses off the clearance rack at Target. 10$ or less , they're decent , but I'm getting an intense desire to get a really nice one. I've been trying to hold off because I'm trying to get my weight down, which has been pretty hard to do. I'm just trying to slowing inch a way with smaller portions.

It can be quite a curse. As a male I was totally happy with one t shirt and a pair of blue jeans
I own 3 dresses, several skirts, tops and jeans. And let's not go into shoes..... [emoji5]
Bobbi
I own about 5 - 6 dresses but only actually wear 2 or 3. I am a bigger fan of short skirts of which I have many and a multitude of tops to go with them. I love to mix and match different looks.
Think 4, just had one return from Oklahoma I lost at a friends reception last year!
I only have one dress.
Just four for now. I may acquire some after Christmas
I prefer skirt/top combos to dresses that being said I do own something like 10 dresses. I wear them somewhat regularly too.
I have about 4 or 5 dresses, 3 are more of the evening gown type (black of coarse) that can be de-formalized by adding a leather jacket and boots. Several items I have bought are for future wear as changes permit, like short leather mini's, I have worn them but thigh high socks are needed, not yet that confident. Socks are one thing I have been going crazy buying, I have an entire large drawer full of never worn thigh high socks ;D. Dani
No where near the number I want. Early on I focused on skirts and blouses. I have 3 dresses so far.

While my son ordered his winter coat at ca. US$ 280 yesterday, my dresses are mostly < US$50, with > US$100 in a few cases.

A dozen or so. You can never have too many nice dresses, right? Tomorrow I'm going to the Brian Setzer Xmas concert in my lucky polka dot rockabilly dress. Brian high-fived me last year when I was wearing it, and at another concert Buddy Guy gave me his guitar pick when I wore it.
I love love love that dress.
I could see this
Just 1 dress, a few blouses, and plenty of short, revealing skirts. >:-)
I'm much more of a skirts girl...I especially love a-line skirts. I'm a size 16 up top and 12 on bottom, so separates work better for me. But that said, I do have 6 or 7 dresses. I love the look of dresses with cardigans.
I'm a dress person , I just love to were them. When I was a kid I had to hide and feel ashamed , now I'm free. It's just so cool to mingle with the crowds dressed properly.

As a male I can (and did) roll out of bed and into the car in under 10 minutes.... provided I set the timer for the coffee pot. :o
I have a Starbucks across the street
3 dresses, 3 short skirts, 4-5 pairs of boot leg low rise jeans, 1 pair of short shorts, countless bras and panties XD lol. What can I say I love the intimates. Thigh highs, leggings, lingerie, yes please.
I need more but I have a total of 3 dresses (one long, one mid-length and one for kink events), 2 skirts, some leggings and skinny jeans. Oh yes I can't forget yoga pants, I love those :)
something like this

Make that five. We stopped at kohl's after pizza dinner and to my surprise my wife asked if I wanted anything for myself. So I picked up a dress and two tops! She said it isn't her style... Well I figured out we don't have the same sense of style anyway. We actually walked out with about $300 in clothes just tonight, gifts for various people.
1 dress at the moment, however I plan on switching from jeans to dresses sometime soon and wear nothing but dresses 24/7. As much as I enjoy wearing my skinnies and jeans in general, its a bit of pain cause of my hips and bending down in them is so annoying. The other issue is my barely noticeable bulge, tucking just becomes uncomfortable after a long day and not tucking gives me anxiety walking around in public. Dresses shall fix these issues ;D
I know for sure I want to stock up on maxi dresses, a few bohemian ones, oh and I need a little black dress for going out and a bunch of a-line dresses too. I also need to buy bras and leggings for the dresses lol. New wardrobe here I come!

Same here. I had to wear pants for 37 years. I'm done. Yet another reason why I love wearing skirts and dresses.
Yes! Oh yeah I need a bunch of skirts too!
9 dresses, 4 Mini skirts; 3 mids length skirts, 1 maxi skirt, 2 pairs of skinny jeans, 1 pair of jean skinny shorts (very tight), 1 pair of leather look skinny leg gins, 1 pair pantaloons. Two coats (1 winter and 1 raincoat) , 4 Handbags. In fact mostly I wear a dress or skirt as I want to be super feminine.

Um, uh, this^^___^^ in my case, lol! Seriously tho since I prefer dresses over other outfit types I have many and number of them is still growing. I prefer dresses with a mini cut but I do have a few that come to or just past my knees including one very expensive one actually given to me by my neighbor. Its pure silk white with blue and purple patterns and is sashed and very beautiful. I plan modeling it for a photo when I take more. As far as outfits go my closets and dressers are beyond full. I have two rolling dress racks like you see models using that are full as well. My dress size is a 2 or 4 depending on brand so I'm easy to fit, and mini hem dresses show off my legs nicely.
And as for shoes, I'll never have enough shoes, lol!
Ally ;)
I have only 1 dress. I'm a jeans and sweater girl, but I live near the ocean in Canada and it is always raining and cold so that is my excuse lol.
I don't like dresses. I prefer skinny jeans. I don't see myself wearing them even when it becomes possible. I am not a fan of skirts either, only if they are long.
I have a few dresses, but I only wear one of them once or twice a week, like our northern friends it is often rather cold here except in summer which only lasts a few months at best
I also ride a bicycle most everywhere I go so I tend to be a blue jeans and top kinda girl also
I have several dresses and multipal of everything else. I almost have to dive for cover when opening my wardrobe because it can start an avalanche. The wardrobe is bursting at the seams as it is. :o
7 Dresses (14), 3 Pairs of Jeans (12), 3 Pairs shorts, 6 thin sweaters (hooded), Dunno how many tops... and lots of Undies :D
Maxi's (bra-less) are my fav's, so cool and relaxing, but kinda classy 8)
Lucky down under that we only have 3 months of coldish weather.
L Katy :-*
I own a couple formal dresses that I use only for formal events. The vast majority of the time they collect dust.
Not quite enough...

^^^ this.... I do own 2 dresses but I hate the way they look/fit on me. I really just wear shorts, sweat pants, skinny jeans, or leggings. do love femme tops like blouses, cardigans, and kiminos. Im currently obsessed with scarfs as well.

I can't wait for summer and when I go full time. Whenever I wear a dress I get a feeling that is extremely hard to describe. I wouldn't call it sexual, it's more of extreme euphoria. It just feels sooooo right.
I have this dress and I love it:

I think it will be what I wear for my first day of going full time at work.
Mmmhmm Kate, those a-line dresses are my fav type.
I have three right now, only one of which I would actually consider wearing in public. I personally loooove dresses, but only a very particular style. I'm hoping for HRT to fix me up so I actually look alright in them.
Yea, luckily The HRT is doing a great job of distributing the fat on my hips , it's pretty cool

There could never be enough dresses :icon_chick:
owning a boutique could help with that problem
Zero. I don't like the way I look in a dress just yet... although I haven't tried one on in a while. This Summer though, oh girl, it's on!!

I don't feel like dresses look good on my body, so I have like 6-7 and hardly ever wear them, except for this one sundress that I like a lot. I wish I felt I could pull them off better, cause they are really comfortable and easy.
Too many... i love wearing dresses or skirts....

I totally get this. It's like I
FINALLY get to dress the way I want to! I've actually been wondering lately if the novelty will wear off and I'll settle back into the bland style I've always had, or whether that bland style was only because I was stuck in guy mode. Cause right now I'm really turning into quite the little fashionista.
And that dress you posted was really cute. The fit and flare / a-line dress is great for us transgirls because it adds fullness where most of us don't have it...it really helps with proportions.
I agree with the Skinny jeans, I have apart from my preferred lots of Androgynous skinny's too... I think last count around 8 pairs, love 'em with tops and tee's :-*

Updated...
Too many already. Bought another two today. I'm not really a tomboy in any shape or form. I'll just have to get used to it I suppose. ... :)

skinny jeans are so incredibly comfortable . but dresses are so cool

That looks good, but probably is not comfortable to wear as the texture seems a little bit stiff. Softer dresses can be worn as sleepwear. I have more than 20 dresses of that style, but I mostly wear those with elastic and soft texture as follows:

I have softer texture dresses as well, but having tried this one, it really feels good. I really don't sleep in dresses though.
Not enough. The only reason I don't own more is because I spent a LOT of money on clothing when I came out. Most of the dresses I have are summer dresses. I know I could wear them with tights, but I prefer longer ones right now. The other thing that sucks is because I don't have breasts yet, a lot of dresses don't work for me yet.
