Title: An Introduction?
Post by: Evangeline on December 21, 2014, 07:10:48 AM
Good morning, evening, afternoon, night, etc...

After months and months of heavily lurking Susan's, slowly reading all of the things, I have decided to join this community. I usually try to avoid online communities, because I've found that the "distance" of text can make interactions not as "warm" as I often like...

Since this is an introduction, I guess that I should introduce myself... Well, then, I suddenly had a remarkable lack of ability to focus. I guess that's the first thing about me. While I have the ability to focus intensely, I also have the attention span of a squirrel.

I love classical music (mostly, trailer music, though - don't judge me). I like real time strategy games. I love, love, love writing, which was my escape for so many years... (Actually, I should say this again - I love writing, probably in an unhealthy way, lol.) I also like technical things - setting up servers and stuff. Ironically, I'm not that sophisticated myself and I sometimes struggle with my smartphone, lol.

My personality is a study in contrasts, I think. I'm serious but silly, orderly and chaotic, loud and quiet, outgoing and isolationist, cold and warm... However, there are some things about me that are always constant. I am kind, respectful, and honorable.

Job-wise, I stare at spreadsheets and dollar signs for a living. Sadly, I'm not a Wall Street analyst, though. The dollars I look at will never translate into big dollars for me. I'm just a government wonk - working behind the scenes, pushing dollars around, doing my best to keep things orderly and make the most of things for the taxpayer.

Now, the reason that I'm here. I'm here because, just two years ago, I didn't know what I was. I have always had a massive internal gap between what I saw in the mirror and what I knew inside. I just figured that everyone around me was being politically correct, so I went along with it.

Thanks to this site and some surprising online acquaintances from elsewhere, I finally realized what this gap meant. Along with this realization has come the pang of a loneliness and terror that far exceeded my ability to absorb. I had always wondered why I could go through so much while showing so little. It's like it was all stored up inside, and now it's just bubbling over and control is evading me.

Uh. I also tend to be a bit longwinded, so I hope that's not frowned on. I chose Susan's because I feel a certain pleasant vibe around this place, and I'm compelled to seek places like this. I have also read all of the rules, and they showed a heartfelt crafting that is often so rare in online communities. So, I hope that you will welcome me, and I hope, as well, to become a positive contributor to this site.

Ah, so... Greetings. ^^;

I hope I did this right, lol...
