Title: Came out to Family
Post by: Jessika on December 27, 2014, 02:31:12 PM
Hi all,
You can not imagine how relieved, excited and happy I am that on 26 Dec 2014 I decided to tell my Family that I am Transgender.
We were visiting my Sister for Xmas (2 1/2 hr drive) from dec 25 to 27.

Xmas night I could only think about the right moment to tell as we were exchanging gifts and just enjoying each others company. My sister and her BF have a 100lb Akita that bit my Mom in the hand. A 2inch small gash on one side and a canine hole made on the other It freaked us out as we all just met the dog (She was petting the dog normally but had food smell on her hands the next time she decided to pet him). We patched her up and continued with our fun. My mom is tough. :)

That night my sisters 16 yr old cat had a mild stroke and the next morning (26th) they took him to the Vet and sent him to Kitty heaven *sniff*.
Later that morning they came back home and we all decided to keep celebrating the holiday (You have to move forward).

My heart was beating thru my chest and I felt my Anxiety going thru the roof (I had my Anxiety Meds with me but never used them). I was alone outside with my Sister and spilled the beans. She was soooo understanding and wish I would have came out long ago as we talked about our childhood ect.

Lots of crying..

Then came my Mom..I told her and she was very calm and her words were "Why didn't you come out sooner." I was shocked she knew those terms. She was very supportive and behind me 100%.

My Dad however was confused what the term Gender Dysphoria meant, so I explained it to him. He asked me if I will be changing physically. I said over time, Yes. He seemed to not really grasp it but then his next words just made tears flow down my face. He said no matter what he will always be there for me and that nothing has changed (Love in the relationship). It overwhelmed me as we hugged and me releasing the floodgates.

I showed them pics of me dressing and just hanging out and my sister told me she was jealous and I looked better than her. I thought she was joking.
While we were all playing Cards last night and talking my Wife blurted out "We're going to be Lesbians". I said "Hell yeah!" and the family smiled and laughed. It felt great. :)

Anyway,
I just wanted to share this exciting moment with the rest of you and let you know that no matter who you are.. be yourself, love yourself, love your family and the rest will fall into place. :)

I will attach the Pics I showed my family. They are older pics, just a FYI, Pre-everything.

It's always great to get that weight off one's shoulders. A huge relief! Congrats! And you look great! :)

Congrats on a successful coming out. I am stalling as long as possible. "Need to know" as they say.

In the grand scheme of things you timed it perfect, seizing the opportunity presented to you. Like how badly can dropping the T-bomb be in comparison to Mom potentially getting rabies or some other major infection from a monster of a dog bit and the cat dieing?  ;D

Thank you all so much.

I'm so much more happier now in a sense. So many thoughts going thru my mind. My Family is behind me. I'm just moving forward now one day at a time.
The journey has only just begun. :)

Thank you for the wonderful replies.
A long road ahead that many of us are taking and will take I am sure, but it can be very rewarding at the end and should be.  ;D

Now my Nephew also knows, we saw him this past weekend. Only my neighbors left to tell but I'm thinking they should "see" the changes when I start hormones. ;)
But how do some of you tell your neighbors if at all?  ^-^
