Title: HELP! Bright Yellow Discharge - FTM 15 months on T
Post by: hunter_ on December 28, 2014, 12:46:47 PM
TRIGGER WARNING - "GENDERED" "MEDICAL" BODY PART TERMS

Hello,

I am a 24 year old FTM boy, 15 months on T. I am also 5 months post-op w/ Dr. Medalie w/ peri-areolar. My T dose has been consistent, and last time my T levels were checked I was all good.

ANYWAY: Lately I have been experiencing a bright yellow vaginal discharge with some blood spotting (minimal, like %5-10 of what comes out of me). I went to my campus health center (who don't seem to know much about FTMs), and they tested me for BV, Yeast Infection, etc. and everything seemed negative. The doc said she didn't know what was wrong so they treated me for BV and Yeast infection anyway, but symptoms are still there. My vagina seems slightly sensitive and irritated, but I do not have any itching or pelvic pain. The discharge is very bright yellow, almost like when you've had too much B12 and you pee. It is sometimes a bit more clear and sometimes a bit more cloudy but always yellow. My period stopped month 1 on T, and i have had literally ZERO discharge from down there until the past few weeks.

They tested me for so many things that I did test positive for Group B Strep, which supposedly doesn't show symptoms. They gave me antibiotics for that but the symptoms are still present. I have had unprotected intercourse with a "trusted" cis male recently, however they tested me for a full panel of STIs and they all came back negative. I also took a home pregnancy test out of desperation, but it was negative as well.

Any ideas of what could be wrong? It isn't painful but the yellow discharge is so much that I have to wear tampons again in order to function in daily life.

Please help,

a concerned boy

Hey man, I'm really sorry this is happening to you.
I have noticed a trend around here that at around 12-18 months on T, guys' vaginas seem to go crazy, and I think it usually goes away but I'm not sure, there have been a lot of guys with stuff like returned periods for a little bit, spotting, etc. You have gone to the doctor and gotten all those tests done, so good for you, because that's certainly the first advice I'd have. You're clearly doing everything that you can to figure out what this is and I applaud you for getting all that done, sounds like you've gotten some tests that I'd certainly never think to try. All the advice I have is that there simply haven't been enough studies to really show what can happen to a FAAB person's reproductive anatomy when we've been on Testosterone. I'm hoping that some of the other members who have been on T longer can chime in with experiences or advice. But anyways the biggest reason I replied is just to say that it's good you got all those tests done, because I know some people will go too long without getting them done.

I wonder if it has something to do with a hormonal or otherwise internal change. Have you talked to your endocrinologist about it yet?

You said that you are post-op but you apparently still have all of your "F" parts including the uterus. It appears that you have had most tests to identify the problem. However, there has to be a medical reason for the problem and you should see a competant gynecologist. You might feel uncomfortable going to a gynocologist as a male but that is probably your best choice.

I see no-one has asked this yet, so: Have you changed your diet lately? Drinking more or less coffee/tea/soda, or juice? New colour-rich, or chemical -rich, food might be messing with you.

Sounds like something you need to see a doctor for. That's highly unusual, unless you are describing this inaccurately. I believe more discharge might be common.

Is it possible that there is an infection, just not in your vagina? Maybe there's something going on in your uterus that a vaginal test wouldn't detect. I agree with the person who said to see a gynecologist, they will probably know more than the GP on campus.

Thanks everyone for the helpful information! My trans-specialist doctor cannot see me until early February, but I have an appointment. And I do not think that this is diet related. UPDATE: I have had some cramping and spotting, possibly a period, and the yellow discharge is much less, at least this week.

Does anyone know the difference in "symptoms" between having too high of T levels and the estrogen is taking over versus having too low of levels and the estrogen is taking over?? I am trying to do as much research as possible for now, since I am still wearing tampons daily and it has been a few weeks now..
