Hi everyone! Hope all is going well as we edge toward a new year. I have a question for those in BC Canada - Do I need anything special to get coverage under MSA? I was at my doctor yesterday and asked for a referral to an endo. He said that it would be on my own 'hook'. I said that I was seeing an registered clinical counselllor who is able to give a letter. That seemed to change things. I then contacted my Extended Health provider and found out that I needed a registered psychologist not a registered clinical counsellor. I am getting a referral to specialist in Vancouver, hopefully this month, and am concerned that I may have to pay for this. I have to go back to the doctor next week to confirm this. Any information is appreciated.
Not from BC but rather next door alberta yet I would guess its probably the same for the most part.
As far as I know health care covers the GRS and that is about it as for other things like say hormones/therapist I think those may be either your pocket and or perhaps a health insurance plan. I know this isn't a lot of help but a probable guess the best thing to look for is a site related to BC transgender I know there is albertatrans.com for alberta probably something like it in BC and might answer your questions with what is and is not covered etc.
Btw just starting this too really and learning as well I could be off:)
I only answering your post because you are so lucky to live in such a beautiful part of the world. Love that entire island and would move their in a heartbeat if I had a job there. I always love the view entering the harbor on the ferry in Victoria. The Empress is where we always stay. I'm hoping to return again in February.
