So I finally got my hair cut a couple weeks ago and I was ecstatic that people have started calling me sir while in public. But also people have started treating me like a little kid. For example, I went to 7-11 to get some hot chocolate and as I was paying with a $20 the cashier said "Wow! That's a lot of money!" As I was walking out to my car and getting in the driver's seat, some people then asked me how old I was. Stuff like this just kinda feels belittling seeing as I'm turning 18 in 3 weeks and have a job and a driver's license. Does anyone else have experiences like these? Or tips for looking older?
I've been pegged as 12-15, one time it was as young as 9. I'm 23 now. I like it since I act little so people either think I am little or that my brain is messed up.
I read your earlier post and didn't want to say anything as I thought it may knock your confidence bcos you seemed really happy with your new haircut, but as you posted this... I'm 100% sure it's bcos you got a haircut no man your age would get. It's the haircut a boy would get. Maybe if it was slightly longer , had some texture/layers to it and if you used the website I talked about in your earlier post to get some ideas. I don't pass really, I think it's bcos for most people they see I have a feminine face (I don't get it) but I do know I have a haircut that a child wouldn't have. I really don't want to come across as mean, I just want you to feel happy about yourself.
That makes sense. I was planning on talking to my friend about getting a different haircut. I'll look through that site. Thanks!
So glad I helped, you also can't go wrong with good hair wax :)
Hey Draonth
I feel like I pass more as way younger than I am (I'm 28) than I as a boy. Though sometimes it's both. But I agree that hairstyles definitely do a lot. I'm hoping to get my own cut soon too.
Ha! I get 'young man' all the time...and I am in my 40s! Even before T, I looked pretty young for my age but now it almost feels disrespectful at times, so I know how you feel. Happens less often if I am dressed in a shirt and tie, so clothing style may have something to do with it. I know I do NOT look like other guys my age, but finally look masculine enough to not be called ma'am all the time ;D. Enjoy your youth while you can is all I can say...
I feel you, I get called things like 'little man' all the time, and the security guards at my dorm kept asking me if I was someone's little brother until they finally started to recognize me. A lot of what age I get seen as relies on my haircut. Some haircuts I look 10-12, others 14-15.
yeah i get called young man all the time, they probly think im between 15-17. I kinda just shrug it off, I rather them think I'm a young male then female anyway
Heh, I'm 18, and I look 14-ish. It confuses the hell out of my classmates in university, I suspect. At least my friend says I look 16, which is two steps closer but still two steps too far. Most of the guys I've met tend to look younger than their chronological age, which is a bit of a curse, but after being some years on T, they do tend to finally look like their age.
Haircuts and fashion/style definitely contribute to how people perceive you, especially age-wise, I'll definitely second that.
Forever young... the epitome of being a trans guy.

Well wouldn't say FOREVER! :) But yeah I get guys asking to join our over 40 group, and gosh they look young some of them.

Enjoy the moment! Have You a boyish childhood? Now You have! And You have a car - a dream of every boy. But it will soon pass. The most of us had a «boyish» period, I think.
