Since I have started to take better care of my body I noticed a few things. Where in the last year or so I noticed he gray hair started to form and my hair started to thin. Got to the point I hated to take showers it was so depressing. So anyway as I have been eating better taking more vitamins and using conditioner my hair ,rate has slowed down on falling out. But there is still the issue of it being thin. I was wondering will being on estrogen HRT help with my hair growing back in or am I doomed to have a thin head of hair. The gray I am not worried about as I will get that colored once it starts to grow out. Still kicking myself for getting my hair cut right before I committed to transition.

Depends on how far gone the hair is. The thinner on the scalp the less likely you'll get good regrowth. Testosterone, particularly the DHT variety, is the main culprit when it comes to male pattern baldness. Anti-androgens will help to stop the loss, and providing the follicle is still alive then regrowth will happen (presumably) separate from any estrogen in the system.
Hi Vicky,
I use finasteride to combat the DHT. My T ranges from 20 to 36 ng/dl. I also use minoxidil 5% twice a day. Also, I micro dermal roll 2-3 times a week with a 2mm roller and use LLLT with 80 lasers 30 minutes every other day ( just started 2 months ago).
Hair regrowth takes a long time. Patience is an understatement.
My goal is to reduce the follicle graphs in the future.
I have regrowth on 80% of the previously thin and bald areas. Most of the regrowth is thin and the regrowth occurs first where you lost it last. I have a few scars in my scalp. One was clearly visible with little hair growing around it. Now I can still see it but there is hair growing and it is getting difficult to see.
Well this is all great news now If I can only get in to see dr to get on t blockers.
