So I have grown out my hair to about 2 1/2 inches so far. It's pretty short, but it long enough that it looks sloppy and and also looks guy-ish (I think it mostly has to do with the back and sides of my head). Does anyone have hair style ideas where my hair won't look sloppy, but will also look a little more feminine, and will allow me to grow out my hair eventually?
Personally I let my hair get kind of curly and I moved my bangs to one side. It's a little awkward at medium lengths but if you just let it grow out it will look decently feminine. When it gets longer you may want it straighter. Make sure to layer it if you have thick enough hair. Eventually you'll have to bring your bangs behind an ear. That's what I've been working on for the past year. I'm a bit past shoulder length by now and if I straightened it I'm sure it would look very feminine. Also, try to visit a hairdresser rather than a barber if you can. Hope this helps :)
My hair is really straight, so it seems difficult to do short feminine styles
For the first couple of months just get the back shortened so it does not look like a mullet, the only fem hairstyle available is a pixie cut but really you just want to keep it as tidy as possible.
Once you get past the first couple of months you start getting into lengths of bobs, again you just want to have the back trimmed, remember that female hairstyles are typically even and there is a lot more distance from your temples to your shoulders than the back of your neck so you aren't really sacrificing anything.
As your hair grows make sure you get the ends cut to avoid splits travelling up.

^THIS^ I don't recommend the femullet unless you want to look butch.
If your hair is short, pins, barrettes, clips and bands are your friends.
