I've been using the women's room exclusively since I got my ID changed a couple days after Christmas. Anyway, in the time since then I had only run into another person once while either entering or leaving the restroom. The encounter was very brief and didn't tell me much as the lady was highly distracted by a conversation and only glanced at me at most. So yesterday... I had my first real test. I went in and had to wait while a mother and her three kids took turns using the stalls. The smallest one stared of course, but that happens regardless of situation. I've had little kids stare at me for no better reason than curiosity about another person back when I used the men's room exclusively and had no overt feminine clothing. So anyway, I had to stand there and she had plenty of time to get a good look at me. Then when it was finally my turn I got to hear her tell her child, "get out of the way sweet that girls needs to use it." :) :) :) :)
The icing on the cake? I wasn't able to shave since Tuesday because this was at the professional building where my electrologist has her suite. I'm so glad hormones lightened my hair's color to the point that I don't have noticeable beard shadow anymore.

Yep, waiting in a loo queue is definitely the big test. Done it a couple of times now. Phew! Nerve wracking at first. Extra bonus points for talking to someone in the queue - haven't gone there yet!
Congratz! Situations like that are major confidence boosters! :) And it will probably not be the last time for you either. :)

Congrats :) I couldn't be happier for you. I am lucky that I am in Canada in a way that I don't need to present any sort of ID if in case I get clocked when entering the opposite gender's washroom as long as I am presenting and living my preferred gender. I believe that's a basic human right.
However, I was totally scared at first and completely ran into the first stall I can find. However, as the weeks go on. I even look in the mirror with a bunch of women grooming with them LOL. I just give them "don't mess with me look" and they normally look away.
Women are catty so just give them that sizing look/side eye and you'll be fine LOL
After an experience like this, you won't worry about it again...:)

I wonder why that is? I have experienced a couple of occasions (not in the restroom) where a child innocently asked me if I was a boy or a girl. I just laugh and say, "I'm a girl honey, just real tall" (6'). I have found that, like others here have said, self-confidence makes a big difference in how others view us. I just go right into the women's rest room without hesitation and thankfully have never had a problem with the public. I dawddle and waddle a bit like an old lady, and perhaps that generates some sympathy, lol.

I used the women's room for the first time today. I was shopping at Whole Foods and realized that there was no way I was making it home. So I ventured in and let out a huge sigh of relief when I found the place empty. Someone came in after me and took the other small stall, then two more women came in together and took the handicapped stall. Everything seemed to be going normal, then something really strange happened. Another woman came in, walked up to my stall, pushed the door, and realized it was locked. The next thing I knew, I saw her looking through the door crack. As soon as I saw her eye, I panicked. While I was seated at the time, my hand was in the...uh...aiming position mid-stream, so the only thing I could think of to do was to start moving my hand like I was wiping all while hoping that the hand movement wasn't going to suddenly send pee spraying all over the stall. :embarrassed: I guess everything satisfied her since the rest of my first women's room visit proceeded without incident.
Is it normal for women to look into your stall? That really freaked me out, but if it's normal I'll have to learn to be extra careful.

Often you'll peak to see if someone is really in the stall, especially in a place where the stall doors close by default. But to look for a prolonged period of time, that's weird.
