Title: Starting hormones tonight before work!
Post by: Lost in L on January 12, 2015, 05:37:15 AM
So I got the go ahead to start hormones and should have the medications today. I'll be starting one my first day of work this week. I'm excited to finally get this going. I'm not out yet as I'm worried about getting fired at work. But I'm confident this will workout some how. I'm out to 30 people that are supportive so that will help.

I still completely feel I have no idea if I'm doing the whole transition thing right. However when I try to sit and think about things or try and figure it out my anxiety/depression skyrockets. I do better when I just wing it I guess.

Any tips for where I should think about placing this patch, for someone that is fairly physically active at work and works out a lot. I'm still fairly overweight unfortunately, working on that....

And big thank you to everyone at this site. I may not post a lot or get a lot of responses, but being able to see other peoples stories, issues, problems, and solutions has helped me greatly 'wing it' My local trans support is pretty much non-existent, so big thank to the people being vocal about their personal problems and people voicing possible solutions.

Congrats on starting. Sorry, I've had no experience with patches so can't recommend a useful site, your endo/doc didn't suggest a site?

Thanks! The doctor mentioned the spots I could use but was wondering if some one had some experience with them. And as far as I can tell everything went well with day one.

The patches are supposed to be on the abdomen generally below the level that jeans or pants would sit. You don't want the patch coming off as a result of the clothing you are wearing. You can put them on your butt too.

Thanks! That's the gist of what I read and heard from the doctor. Just really paranoid about them falling off. But 3.5 days in and it held up. I hope everything continues well. Wish I could find an area without hair though.... :(

Congrats on getting started, I cant wait to get started on mine

as far as placement i dont have any personal experience but from what
i have heard its abdomen or the butt, i was told that if you have a job
like mine where you sit alot ( truck driver ) then the butt can sometimes be a
problem if you sweat alot especially in the warmer months of the year

I know how you feel. I never did get them to stay on very well. Some would come off even shortly after putting them on. You could always shave the area your going to place them on ahead of time.
