Hey! My name is Beru and I'm a 16 year old gay, asexual transguy. I decided to join this forum after losing a great deal of my old support system. I went through a bad breakup and my ex has continually condemned me to a lot of people I once considered to be my best friends. I guess I'm looking for a better sense of anonymity in a place where I can still truly be myself.
I live in a TINY town (less than 300 people) about 5 hours from any decent civilization, so my LGBTQ+ resources are next to none. I've gone through a lot of phases in my journey to self-discovery, basically from bisexual cis girl to where I am now. Being trans in a situation like mine is stupidly hard. I'm out to my mom as gender nonconforming, but that's it. She's shown to be relatively supportive of trans people, but I know that coming out to her fully wouldn't really help my situation. We can't even afford the transportation to therapy appointments, let alone the money for hormones and surgeries. Even my "real life" trans friends live hours away, so I communicate with them almost entirely over the internet.
I feel like I'm complaining a lot, but this is ultimately what I consider to be my reality. My own gender (or rather affirming it) is constantly on my mind, and I figure I'll get a little closer to doing that with the people and resources on this forum.
Hi Beru and welcome to the forum. As you are of a certain age, you may find that a moderator has been by to edit a part of your post. You have landed on the correct square. Here you will find that which you seek. I too started in a smallish town, granted, larger than your own, but still small enough to be a scary place for a trans person. I know that this virtual town here will provide you with the help you need to smooth out the rough spots in your journey to otherhood. Feel free to vent. This is the venue, you are not alone.
