Post by: Dierdre Lenore on February 10, 2015, 08:05:02 PM
Just talked to my adopted niece, (one of my best buddies daughters), She is about 24 by now and has known me forever. I told he r about coming out at work, as she has always been interested in the condition, and she simply replied, " So are you my auntie?" Unholy Moly! I am elated!!! just don't know what else to say!!!!!

Always nice to get that kind of support from people close to you! Still waiting for my sister to allow my niece to even know about me...

Oh thats lovely.
I think as older people with old fashioned conservative views (anyone not heterosexual is bound for hell) are gradually replaced by ones whove grown up with full LGBT rights being a normal thing, it will get more and more easy and normal to transition. no more shame or decades of depression, just hey, transition and get on with things..
id love to think one day it was normal quick and easy for anyone who wanted to for any reason to transition, and transition back too, at will. Hard to be sexist when youve lived as both genders. wouldnt it be a thing to be able have children as a father, and then laater as a mother, or whatever! Maybe a couple father/mother a kid, then 2 years later swap and mother/father the next one! Eventually its unusual not to have transitioned at some point in life, in the same way travelling or doing a degree can be seen to broaden your horizons and round you as a person, so does living as variations of your original self.
Im rambling into science fiction, but stories like yours give me a tonne of hope. thank you for sharing.

Pansy that is wonderful news. My first niece knows and is supportive, but the second one probably won't be told for a long time because I have no doubt they will keep it from her. Considering she is only 1 year old I'm not worried about it at this point.
