It has been a while since I checked in. Things had been rough and I was stuck in Nevada, far away from San Francisco. So I am back and been taking better care of myself. I see susans website is also making changes, looking forward to whatever may come. But here is my latest pictures after officially 4 months on HRT at a dose of spiro and estrogen that is in the mid range. My blood work is coming back well and they are saying I actually have better cholesterol , in the nice nice range. I am including a comparison picture from Day 0 at Burger King in Alameda CA , vs now at the YMCA in San Francisco. *edit should also note my testosterone levels are 175, whereas before I started they were 190-220*

I decided to embrace my curls for the first time in my life. I have always worn it straight and slicked back, although did like using a flat iron once. But give me some honest input here. Do I have potential. I am doing my best here and your kind words would hopefully alleviate any rogue random depression.
Things are looking good thus far. You just have to give HRT to do it's thing. Before I embraced who I am, I had a shaved head. But I let my curls grow out and I think they look great now. What I do in the morning is wash my hair in the sink, blow dry, brush, add mousse, then finally add argon oil and style. Curly hair is very difficult to work with at times but once you get a routine that you like down, you'll love the results. Be prepared for lots of trial and error. Everyone has potential as long as you keep trying, never give up, and believe in yourself. Willpower is key.
Hmm well, I have fine hair and wavy. So if I blow dry it actually makes it look even more fine and takes away the body. I have started trying putting gold bond (cvs branded) lotion in my hair after shampoo and conditioner. It seems to add good volume without being greasy and or too weighty.
I guess since I am chronologicially 42 years old (43 in April) it will take a lot longer for hrt to really work. Also im still not at what my doctor calls a theraputic dose or the final dose she wants me on for the next year.

I can definitely see a glow and subtle change on the face. You have a good base to work on so just keep smiling and stay beautiful.

I have very curly hair which is below my ears and at my lower neck.
I had a female executive vice president at work come up to me while waiting for an elevator and she felt my hair and said nice curls. She was a bit close so I took a step back. I felt very odd and immediately started a conversation about work. It was a really uncomfortable elevator ride.
I use its a 10 shampoo and fructis firm hold gel. I rub the gel in after I shower and use a hoarse hair brush.

Hmm wow, I pictured in my mind that movie with Ellen Barkin called Switched I think where her boss was very forward with her.
Well I have always liked plastic brushes, i have tried steel (hurts and pulled too much) I think I may have tried hoarse hair but never liked it way back when.

Thanks! I am ready to at least be going in the direction of androgynous. Once I get there then I wonder whats next.
