Title: HTR Sweden - Dosage - start of a change
Post by: SwedenMtf on February 17, 2015, 01:47:39 PM
Hi everyone!
I'm Nelly from Sweden. Or well my name is still Olle. I just started my process here in Sweden. To go from Male to Female. However, to get legally HTR in Sweden you have to get your diagnosis which takes 9-12 months to get.

The thing is I was born with a single ventricular heart condition, and I was worried that I wouldn't be able to do the transition.. but a few doctors looked into my chart and they all agreed that the surgerys and everything will work.. but when it comes to putting me to sleep with anestsia I'm at a little higher risk than normal person. Because of this I am on acetylsalicylic acid.

Mod edit: No dosages please

Hey Nelly

Welcome to Susan's  :)  Great to have you here - looking forward to seeing you around the forum.

Sorry we don't advocate or encourage self medication or discuss dosages here. It can be extremely dangerous because there are a whole range of factors that will be very specific to you that need to be considered by a trained endocrinologist when prescribing hormone medication. And as you have noted you are potentially at a higher risk. I know it can be very frustrating having to wait to move through your medical system, the hoops you have to jump through can be very humiliating, but if you do something wrong with your own regimen of HRT you could effect your health in a way that might ultimately mean you can never take it. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news. I hope you can get into a proper medical system ASAP.

Välkommen!

I cannot answer your heart related questions. But about when you can see a difference will vary from person to person. I felt that my skin became softer and smoother the first week, and felt pain beneath my nipples after about 1 months. However, I will advice to be careful when you are self medicating. Especially with Androcur, since it can be very aggressive against your liver at higher doses. I don't know if you could go to vårdcentralen and request a hormonal check up, but also other values that has to be considered when taking the blood samples.

The wait to start HRT can seem to take forever, but there is a reason for it. Some changes can be permanent, and Dr.s want to make sure that their patient doesn't change their mind. You know what is in your mind, but they don't.

Self medicating under any conditions can be dangerous. You don't want to cause harm to yourself by under or over dosing yourself, and only a Dr. can tell you how much of what to take. Also take into consideration your cardiac condition. That may change how you are medicated.

There is plenty of time for you to live the life you want. Take the next few months to work on other things. Please don't risk your health by self medicating.

Cindy,
I'm not really sure what you are talking about. I didn't put any dosages in my reply, nor did I tell someone to self medicate. Do you mind telling me specifically what you are objecting to?
