Title: Came out to my sister
Post by: Elvis the Pelvis on February 18, 2015, 02:18:00 PM
So I came out to my sister last night. I was so nervous about it. I told her that I had been struggling with my gender identity for my whole life. Right after I said that, my sister responded with this -
"I think I know what your about to tell me...if you feel like you're a male, then I think that's great!  You need to be who you are as a person. No judgement here! Can't live your life not being your true self!"

After she said that, I cried. I couldn't help it. They were happy tears, relieved tears...she also said that I have always been more like a big brother to her. She promised to be my ally and she tried to reassure me that my mum will understand. My sister said that it makes all makes sense to her, and that it will make sense to our mum too.

I thought I'd share this as it is a positive experience.

What a good new !
I wish you luck with coming out to your mother (as, reading at your post I suppose it's in your plans) and I think it will go well. With a so supportive sister, it'll be easier ;-)

Congrats on your sister being supportive. Good luck with your mom. Sounds like your sister has a pretty good feel as to how your mom will take it.

Congratulations!!  There's no better feeling than that of love and support!  She sounds like a fantastic ally to have on your journey.

I just came out to everyone over the course of the last year, and I was pleasantly surprised by people's support.  We never know until it happens... but when the support is there from the beginning, it is to be cherished!

Thanks everyone. It's a huge relief. Having my sister support me is a big step forward. Not sure when I'll tell my mum, but I feel it may be sooner than later.
