Post by: ChanelMK on February 22, 2015, 02:42:37 AM
So i just landed a nice job in telecommunications and ive been on the pill for 2 years, i already desire to get ffs at some point or another, but i also wanna wait and see how the hormones take, assuming they havent already,i know im young but i feel like if i dont get it done now im still gonna want to get it done later so how should i go about ffs?

If you've been on hormones for 2 years, I think you're ready for FFS. Hormones will not change your facial bone structure so if you feel you need it, I say go for it. The younger you do it the better too :) I was planning my FFS at 19 but didn't actually get it done until years later only because of $$$.

My only other advice would be to do a lot of research on different surgeons. There are a lot now-a-days. Also, make sure you find out their technique, like where the incision and scars will be. And finally, don't do the whole nine yards if you don't need to. Maybe do 1 or 2 procedures you feel you need most and maybe you'll be happy with just that instead of doing your entire face. Some surgeons will sell it all to you while others will be completely honest.

If you have the money available, why f*** around and wait, just go for it. Be smart and do your research, literally like months.. compare the experiences, results, and most importantly figure out ON YOUR OWN what you need to get done. Before you ask any surgeon about it. This is essential. After you research the surgeons and what they can do, and after you know what you want, you will know exactly which one you should trust with your FFS, and you will only need one quote from one surgeon. Stupid patients send the pictures to 10 surgeons, and because they don't know what they want, they end up with 10 different opinions, and even more confusion in their already very confused head. Don't even think about where you live and what might be the closest option near you. Flying to the other side of the world just might be what you need to do to have the best possible result. Last thing, don't even think about going alone. You need somebody to take care of you during the first week after surgery.

If you think you'll need it, no reason to wait.

Yeah. FFS is more about the bone work. I say go for it as that's not going to change anyways without surgery

I say hell yes, I started hormones at 16 going on 17 and I am still going to have FFS done, although I do pass 80-90 percent of the time without make-up , I still have a terribly masculine forehead, and a jaw that needs some work I've been on HRT for 13-14 years, and I can say that it cannot change bone structure unless you start it pre-puberty.  One other thing I can add is to be realistic, the best surgeon in the world cannot bring your face to 100 percent female range, I'm not saying that cis people will be able to read you after, what I am saying is that there will be minute imperfections that you and other trans individuals may be able to spot.

Yes he can! ... But that depends on what you have to start with. If you have very prominent masculine features, the reality is some things can't be changed.. And even the best skills and most agressive approach can't make a beautiful female face from ugly and really masculine face. On the other hand, if you don't have any masculine feature, and the only thing to fix are few androgynous traits, then FFS results can be amazing.

I had my first set of FFS procedures at 19 with Dr. O after having spent three years dedicating my savings to it. I just recently had my lower half done right before I turned 22. Honestly, the younger the better, for myself I would have had it all done the day I turned 19, the thing about FFS is it aids you in your life overall if done well because the ->-bleeped-<- issue doesn't come up so often in daily life. Just my two cents :) You do what you do to make yourself happy, not for or because of anyone else.
