Title: Competent endocrinologists in Mississippi?
Post by: Kaylee2140 on February 22, 2015, 05:33:34 AM
Everyone I called said they only work with diabetics and ciswomen. Its gotten to the point were self medding and informed consent appear to be my only options, both of which I have done before with great difficulty. Self medication was a finacial rollercoaster and a pain to get serum levels tested plus I was paranoid about health issues the whole time even though my doses were about 1/4th of what most transwomen take.

Informed consent was even more expensive because I was traveling 200 miles to Jackson for a doctor that only showed up 3 of the 9 times I went. And when I finally did get my hormones the doses were so low that I doubt a lab rat could see results from them.

That one informed consent clinic in MS might have improved since they have recently purged there staff (it was that terrible) but I have my doubts.

I really need to find an endo, i cant wait anymore

Where do you live? Trans-friendliness in Mississippi admittedly sounds oxymoronic to me, but that doesn't mean you're SOL.

Unfortunately, endos seem to be few and far between in most places.
Here are two up in Jackson:
Arti Barnes
University of Mississippi Med. Center
2500 North State Street
Jackson, MS 39216
601.984.5560
oahcc.org

Open Arms Healthcare Center
500 East Woodrow Wilson Suite M

You could start there; maybe give them a call and ask if there are any endo's closer to you.
Good luck!
