So there is this game that my daughter is obsessed with. It's a suspense game meant to give you a shock if you don't keep tabs on the baddies. Freddy Fazbear, and pals, are friendly animatronics, like those you would see at Chuck-E-Cheese pizzeria. You play a night guard hired to protect the animatronics, and the establishment, but quickly find out that it is YOU that need protecting!
She got me hooked on this game when I started to learn of the hidden story behind the events of the game.
Has anyone here played it?
I never really had much interest in the game when I took it at its face value, but as soon as I started reading into the fan theories and backstory I pretty much got hooked.
I liked the episode of Game Theory on it, but I'm too much of a 'fraidy cat to play scary games. :P
Yeah me too, I thought my daughter, and one of my closer friends, were being silly for obsessing. Now I'm trying to beat night 5 of the first game and i keep failing. I wont allow myself to play the second one until I finish night five. And now there is a third coming out soon... I have a lot of catching up to do!

Yeah, the Game Theorists have two videos now, and it was the second one that really got me interested.

Oh yeah? I may have to go look for that. I only recall seeing one.
That game scared me ****less. I've always been terrified by animatronics anyways, but FNAF and its successor, FNAF2...I flat can't play them. I just can't.
Awwww! You get used to it after a while! ^_~
Sometimes I can tell when a jump scare is coming and I brace for it, haha. <3
I haven't tried it myself. I find it more entertaining to watch other people play those kinds of games so I have watched a few playthroughs on youtube :P
It's funny - I totally had no idea what this game was until my partner's nephew became obsessed with it. For weeks he would show us these drawings of this bear named "Freddy" and ask us if we knew who Freddy was. I just assumed it was some bear from a kid's tv show that he was into watching (he barely turned eight), but little did I know it was a homicidal animatronic bear from a creepy horror game.
I was curious, so I started playing the first one a few months ago, and I really enjoyed it (I love jumpscare-type horror stuff rather than gore), and played the second one for the first time last weekend. Already the second one is much scarier to me (I hate the Puppet so much!), and I am excited but not excited to keep playing it later >__>
Hahaha, that's funny! I got it for my daughter for x-mas. She talks about it to her friends at school, and in girl scouts, and they all run around pretending to be the animatronics @_@
My daughter likes Chika the most. She even tried to make a Chika mask for Halloween, before I really knew what it was. But now, she had me considering buying matching costumes to take to ComicCon SanDiego. But that wont happen because I didn't get tickets sadly. :/
I just found out FNAF 3 is out, for about $8. And I still need to beat the first one. Fml.
I watched the first two nights of FNAF3 on Markiplier's youtube channel...I can't. I can't even. It's just...oh dear gods.

So I just watched his first 5 videos of FNAF 3, and all I can really say is - OH Man was it a bad idea to watch them all right around midnight! I loved the conversations he would have with SpringTrap! You gotta love all the reactions he has to each of the different character appearances.
Mark's great - his FNAF gameplays really got me interested in his channel and I'm so glad I found his videos. his commentary is always so hilarious :D
I swear I have been obsessed with FNAF since the initial wave of hype last August (when all the Youtubers boosted it's popularity).
I played FNAF1 in November, 2 on the same day (on release), 3 on release also. Only 1 scared me at all. The second one now has over 16 hours racked up on Steam (Yep, 16) and the 3rd one is just boring, in my opinion. There is no strategy, it's just luck and every new feature is an inconvenience rather than an interesting mechanic. I have never been scared of animatronics, though...probably why I find them fun time-wasters rather than good for that 'horror game feel'.
Hoping for the release of plushies, I would love ones of Foxy and Mangle (Is that possible, though? Mangle is basically 90% scrap metal...).
I found just watching Markiplier's videos kind of terrifying, so I don't think I could ever play it. I mean, I get scared playing L4D2 and during the night in Minecraft, so I'd much rather just watch than play! It helps that Markiplier is pretty funny. :3
Personally I feel that FNAF is overrated. Even the back story isn't "that" interesting. I always thought that minecraft was overrated but this is just a new level, at least minecraft gave an experience that no other game could offer on that level. There are a lot of better horror games than FNAF so I feel it doesn't deserve to be as popular as it is. The second game is best imo, the first game had WAY too much waiting while the second had you doing things to keep you distracted and rack up tension.
while I said the backstory isn't anything special it's still interesting to an extent but you want catch me writing fan theories or buying merchandise lol.
