Title: Male name on passport but gender female?
Post by: Matt A on February 23, 2015, 03:33:20 PM
I'm getting my passport renewed soon, it'll be renewed after I get my name legally changed to Matthew.

What's been concerning me is if at customs, they'll think it's a fake passport and want to strip search me (I can't think of anything worse).

My name on it will be Matthew alongside my face, which being honest doesn't look that female, but my gender will be down on it as female.

Does anyone know any laws protecting against this, or any relevant laws, or any experience? A strip search would be horrible, something I'd consider cancelling my holiday if it was a real risk.

Thanks
-Matthew

When entering the US, they'll pull up all the details on their computer, including the photo. They'll know it's not fake.

You can always sign up for the Global Traveler program and skip all the lines too.
