i was wondering what the difference is between GnRH and spiro ?
my son is 14 and we are trying to get him on hormone blockers to stop his puberty . the gender clinic talked about spiro . probably because he entered puberty at 11 and already has a deept voice, lots of hair...
do they work the same way ? what about side effects ? can you stay a long time on spiro or do you have to take estrogen rapidly ?
right now we are just trying to stop all the male characteristics to develop more.

i was wondering which drug would be the most helpful stopping all the male characteristics and giving us time... my son is only 14 and this is pretty new.. i don't want to rush it but at the same time wants to help with the disphoria and help him feel better .

Just to be clear, your son, or your daughter? Males wouldn't be using estrogen. I know this can be confusing for everyone.
Some of our members have a lot more knowledge about the different drugs than I do, we can hang out until they get here! :)

spiro should be sufficient to prevent puberty, but some form of hormone needs to be present, otherwise there can be bone density issues. please consult a physician
GnRH is preferred in children it essentially has no side effects and is reversible if your child changes their mind during puberty. The down side is that it is very expensive and hence usually used in a hospital setting, the paediatric endocrinologist find ways to support the hospital to fund it, at least in Australia. But do take the advice of the specialists, this is an area where experts are really needed.
