Title: Really thirsty?
Post by: MihaelKai on February 26, 2015, 07:23:23 AM
I'm due for my 3rd shot today so I've been on T for roughly a month now. But I've noticed that since around the second shot, I've been absurdly thirsty. I think my water intake has pretty much doubled. It's not so much that my mouth is dry but more that I just feel overall thirsty in my throat and mouth. If it stays like this, I might wind up asking the doctor about it. It's not worrying really, but it's just kind of random and confusing.

So I was wondering if anyone else noticed increased thirst or themselves drinking more liquids after starting T?

From a couple of youtube videos I've seen, and from my own (low dose) experience, this seems to be normal.  Also, the need to stretch, especially my shoulders. Kind of makes sense since more muscle mass requires more water to support it.

I seem to remember a point where I was thirsty enough to make myself sick by drinking too much water. My doctor advised that me to drink some sort of sports drink as well, as I may have had an electrolyte imbalance. Its not a problem much anymore after 3 years, but I do drink a lot more water than I used to.

I haven't noticed being particularly thirsty, but these last few months I have noticed I seem to get dehydrated really easily even though I'm drinking the same amount of water I always have, which was plenty enough before. Also, I used to get sharp pains around my collarbones when I was dehydrated (it's apparently caused by the mucus lining on your organs being too thin and causing slight friction when breathing) but that doesn't seem to happen anymore. Not sure what to think of it.

No, but I've been needing to have water constantly available for years before T.

I've noticed this as well, I can't imagine what the cause could be though.

I'm going through that too, and I can only hope it will go away soon.

I tend to be chronically dehydrated because I just don't drink. But even when I do, I seem to need much more water than I think is reasonable.

Giving my input since I'm still 100% male at the moment and not on any blockers or replacement hormones...I hope this is well-received.

I suffer from the occasional testosterone spike. Increased thirst is definitely among the...interesting...effects the increase in T can produce. You may also find yourself irritable, unusually aggressive, or fatigued. Now, those could be from the fact that I'm getting extra on top of what my body produces, but I don't have any way to make a comparison to anyone.

I'm definitely thirsty a lot and have been since about a week or two on T. 6 months now.
