Title: That little crease in the chin?
Post by: CB on February 27, 2015, 07:13:22 AM
I don't know what you call it but I'm referring to that little crease or dimple that runs vertically in the chin just below the lower lip.
Only a few people have it and it seems to me that most of these are genetically born males although I have read a few women have it as well.  My partner says its just me and don't worry about it but personally I've always hated it and  it can apparently be filled quite easily by lipofilling. i.e your own fat.

I guess my question is whether this is a gender marker as such and if having it fixed (probably at the same time as my trachial shave) would increase feminisation?

It is more common for men than for women, but it is not real gender marker, like square jaw, masculine shape of orbital rims, forehead, etc... If you feel it's something that makes you feel uncomfortable, and you believe it makes your face appear more masculine, it can be easily fixed with lipofilling.

Look up Angie Harmon. She has a very square jaw and a cleft chin and is one of the most beautiful women in showbiz.

Well I'll have to think about it. It may not be a gender marker as such but I'll feel a heck of a lot better if i get it filled.
I had a consult with Dr Van de Ven in the autumn and after telling me I didn't have a very masculine face it was one of the things he immediately picked up that he could improve.

She does have overall very masculine facial features.. and it doesn't take anything away from her, quite contrary she looks very attractive because of her masculine features. One thing is, she has an overall facial balance which is great and none of those features, even though fairly masculine, doesn't make her whole face appear masculine. And noone will call her a man in a dress, or clock her as a transsexual because of her features. It's never to be lookes as one feature, or two alone. You always have to look at a face as a whole, not as a collection of different parts.
