Hi, I'm Claire and I've been on HRT for about 8 months now (estradiol patches and cyproterone). I was just checking my nipples (as I guess you do occasionally lol), and when I lightly pressed down as I was checking, some white fluid came out.. I tried the other side and fluid came out on that side too. They aren't sore or inflamed or anything so I doubt its an infection.. I then thought I might taste it (sorry to be gross) to see if was kind of sweetish as I've heard breast milk is... and it was sort of, it didn't have much of a smell and it actually tasted ok :) (sorry for grossness once again). I kept pressing on both sides and more kept coming out, probably 6-8 good size droplets came out of each side, although more still comes out.. I just don't want to keep doing it as its kind of messy.
I just want to know if this is a normal part of being on HRT.. I'm kind of worried I might have a prolactinoma or something.. I have epilepsy and its been totally controlled by medication until recently when I've been getting some small petit mal seizures, despite my doctor doubling my dosage...
I'm going to see my doctor, but if anyone could let me know if a little milk production during HRT is normal or not, that would be great :) Thanks.
I believe it is reasonably common, so don't panic. You're doing the right thing to see your doctor, though.
Thanks :) It was kind of nice :) but I was almost as much freaked out by it lol. I have a referral to a neurologist, so I'll also mention it when I eventually see him too :p
If anyone else has any wisdom to offer, please feel free to post too :p :)
In the past, I have seen women post on here about that very issue, so it does seem to happen with some MtFs from time to time. Then again, I'm no doctor, so might be best to see a medical doctor about that. On another note: I'm a little bit jealous that some MtFs can produce breast milk. I kind of want to experience that at least a couple of times, lol!
I've had foremilk too, especially when my husband, well, latches. It's normal I think.
I give a little detail about my current lactation here:

Cyproterone acetate tends to significantly raise prolactin levels, sometimes to dangerous levels causing in rare instances prolactinoma, a benign pituitary tumor. Increased prolactin may be causing this increased milk secretion and personally I would be concerned and have my prolactin levels checked, also perhaps take an MRI if problems persist...Or stop Cyproterone acetate. As always, follow doctor's orders ONLY but you can always share this info with them and see what they say. Patient feedback is always important, I think and can sometimes be useful to a doctor. My doctors personally value my feedback and knowledge. :) We work as a team.
