The state where I live now, Florida, got a "Very Bad" rating. The state I just moved from, California, is rated "Very Good".
Oops! What was I thinking...
Saw this map and agree with it mostly (actually reposted on FB). I live in NM which is rated good. But I feel that the map doesn't assess everything. For instance, there was nothing re: the great trans community and strong advocacy work being done. But I agreed when they said health care access is lacking.
I know life for trans people is better in larger cities as well, so some place like Dallas, Phoenix, Fort Lauderdale might be good while some little town would not be.

Speaking of Texas as a Texan, I am surprised to not see us in the bottom of the barrel.
However, to be fair, it is a large state and I am the first to admit that acceptance and protections vary wildly in this state. Austin, Houston, San Antonio, and Dallas are our best bets.
As one who lives in Wisconsin this shows even more that I have to move to MN.
Very Poor in both my home state (Georgia) and current state (Kentucky)...and Unacceptable in Alabama, where my FtM little brother resides...poor dude, I better talk to him about this.
It's funny, I was feeling pretty good about Florida (everyone has treated me so nicely here), but the "bathroom bill" sponsored by Rep. Frank Artiles has completely changed my perception.
The bill, which Rep. Artile says is a direct response to Miami's new non-discrimination ordinance, will make using the "wrong" bathroom punishable by up to a year in prison, and also make it easy to sue trans allies who let us "get away with it".
To my complete shock, the bill just passed the Florida "House Civil Rights Subcommittee" by a 9-4 vote, which make it becoming law a real possibility. For the first time, I'm actually thinking about moving back to California. ???
As for someone who lives in Mississippi and transitioned here, it is bad, but has some good points. People are becoming MUCH more open minded, and I have had next to no issues the entirety of my transition.

O I am planning on moving. Have to line things up. It may be next tax season. There is a great support group with many friendly people there. Perhaps I will see you there :)

It will be a while for me - I still have a year+ of school left... and then I am considering grad school after, but Walker is doing his best to make sure grad school at UWM won't be affordable by then.
