My two older brothers are 6ft2in and 6ft4in, my younger sister is 5ft9in tall. My friends are mostly really tall too.
I know that height isn't everything and all that, but I hate being so short. I mean, I'm taller than both my parents but think it is completely unfair that my siblings are so tall and I am not. And it hurts. I'm surrounded by tall people and it makes me feel like absolute ->-bleeped-<-.
About a year and a half ago I made some (sort of) shoe lifts out of cardboard and duct tape. They made me feel a lot more confident, even if only giving me a little more height. After a few months I had completely totalled them, and I haven't made any more since (though I probably will if I can...) and I recently told my mum about it and she just laughed and seemed to brush my discomfort off. She told me I should learn to accept my height and just be glad that I am taller than she is. She doesn't get it, I've accepted that I am not going to grow anymore, it is just how much more confident being just a little taller made me...
Idk, this was just my nonsense babble at 11pm sorry I make no sense.
Big hug! Can you afford elevator shoes? Lots of folks wear them. First time I put on heels I said "Holy crap, is this what it looks like from up here?" Men's shoes can be found with 3 to 3 1/2 inches of height built in.
Hugs, Devlyn
I'm only 5'3", and although I'm taller than my older sister, both of my younger siblings are going to be taller than me, my brother already is. I remember telling my dad when I was 13/14 that I needed to start hormones straight away so that I would get taller. Parents just seem really good at the brushing it off thing, don't they?
What kind of shoes do you like to wear? I found that wearing boots with even a little bit of heel on them made me feel like I was a lot taller, even though it's only about two or three centimeters. Also, you can order shoe lifts online if you ever find the cardboard is a hassle, I've actually recently purchased some (5 pairs for about $7AUS) off eBay, they should be here this week sometime.
Certain brand of shoes have a decent heel. One of the brands both me and the partner wear are dansko. They are spendy but the style we have give us both an extra 3 inches. A lot of men are self conscious of their height and there are a lot of styles of shoes that can give you a boost without looking like they are made to boost height. There are also cheap shoe lifts that you can get from places like shoe stores. I had a pair for a while until I flattened them out and switched my shoe style.
Uggh, height dysphoria is so bad. I'm 5'6" and I've developed an obsession with researching the heights of various male celebrities and comparing how much taller than me they are.
It does suck being a short guy. I'm 5'3" if I stand *really* straight, and I try not to let it worry me too much (I'm mostly not successful at that. . . ) I've thought about lifts or elevator shoes, but faced the depressing reality that nothing reasonable would get me close to an "average" male height. Ayden mentioned Dankos-- I pretty much live in mine and, while I bought them for comfort, the height boost is a nice bonus. They are pricey, but there are plenty of cheaper knockoff unisex clogs that also have the bit of a heel. Sadly, nothing's perfect.
I don't know if these are anyone's taste but platform shoes from Demonia adds a couple of inches:

They are mostly unisex too.
