Title: Help from MTF girls!! What would be best for me?
Post by: Sergmtf on March 08, 2015, 10:33:32 PM
Hey guys! I would like to get your advice on a couple of things.

I am 17 years old and i will be graduating high school in june. I will turn 18 years old on august 26. My father tells me that theres a great job offer at his job $15 for me there once I turn 18. I hope to work there for maybe 18 months and 1. purchase a car, 2. start saving money for surgeries, 3. start hair removal surgeries, and 4. start taking T-blockers, NOT estrogen.

It would be a male environment and I would not like to take estrogen and transition around my father and his co-workers. I would technically be leaving that job in March 2017.

My question is: would there be a difference if I started HRT at 19 years old compared to 20 years old? However, keep in mind that I will start T-blockers before I turn 19.

After you start blockers you need to replace the sex hormone with another to maintain health.

Talk to your endo

I didn't think of that. Is there a way around it though? I know that teenagers who are wanting to transition are firt put on T blockers before they start taking estrogen until they're old enough.

Yes, they are usually given a testosterone blocker until they hit puberty.  Once puberty hits you need to replace those hormones with something else.  Hormone deficiency can be dangerous.  Talk to your Doctor to see what is the best option for you.  There isn't a huge difference in waiting.  But at the same time, it is a slow process, so if you started while around your dad/friends, there wouldn't be a huge noticeable difference.

Thank you so much for this!! :)

So I could basically start transitioning 4-6 months prior to leaving? After those months, there will be noticeable changes such as face change, breast growth, body fat distribution.

Each persons body is different.  The biggest change the first 6 months is going to be psychological.Outwardly is slow and takes time.  I know one girl who has been on HRT fulltime for a year, and JUST now getting breast growth.  Again, EVERY persons body is different.  You will likely (depending on your Dr. and what they put you on) start growing breasts (SLOWLY, not overnight and rapid), and body fat distribution over time.  After 6 months I would say is a good time line to start seeing noticeable changes.  The biggest problem in my opinion would be the psychological aspect of feeling more female internally, and having to live as male outwardly.

Thank you again! Thank you soooo much :)

I will have to somehow mask that...once again.

Speak to your doctor/endocrinologist - but you could be on an anti-androgen and low dose estrogen for the initial stages anyway. The changes - as noted above - don't happen that quickly (for most people), so you don't have to worry about sprouting DDs overnight.

You are welcome.  The biggest thing is to discuss this all with your Dr. and work with them to come up with a transition plan that bests suits you and your needs that will be safe for you.

Thank you girls soo much ^

I will start going to one once I turn 18. You guys are right: puberty didn't happen overnight and so won't transitioning.

How buxom are the women in your family? That can be an indicator of things to come. For me, all of my female relatives have large breasts, and I had girl nipples after one month on t-blockers alone. After two months on blockers, I started estrogen and began growing breasts within three days.

My point is, everyone is different. Don't count on anecdotal data to factor in a closeted timetable.

Oh, and also, you're seventeen. You have lots of time. I started hormones at thirty-one, and I'm feminizing very well. You will, too. :)

Thank you :) the women in my family have big, not huge, but big breasts. I can maybe wrap them lightly with saran wrap if they start showing too early?

My only fear is not being passable and not looking feminine enough. I have nothing against non passable transgender women, but I already get a lot og sh** for being non-op at the moment. I can only imagine how much crap I would get for not being passable. I just want to be a pretty, passable girl, not wow gorgeous, but just pretty and feminine :)

I understand that binding breasts can damage their shape. Also breasts can feel sore while they are growing..
