Well, ImagineKate mentioned going to Beth Israel LGBT clinic (http://www.wehealny.org/services/lgbt_health_services/ ) so I decided to look into it and try to officially start HRT.
It was simple and easy. I used their online appointment system (http://www.zocdoc.com/hospitals/bimg ) and made an appointment for two weeks away originally. ImagineKate recommended Zil Goldstein and I do too. She isn't a doctor but a Nurse Practitioner.
I went yesterday. Talked to the Zil about HRT. We went over my medical history and that was pretty much it. I signed the "Informed Consent" forms and walked out with two prescriptions. She sent the prescriptions straight to my pharmacy and I picked them up this morning.
Zil is TG and I think the person who was taking my vitals is too. Both were very nice. Zil asked what my preferred pronouns were and what name I wanted to be called. Everything was all very nice and respectful.
Congrats :) ImagineKate has had mostly positive experience from what she told me. (We've met for lunch one day and talked about it.) I remember she was mis-gendered once by accident, but the care she had been getting is good. I use Callen-Lorde and there is a wait to get in the program, but once in it's awesome as well. They even helped with my legal gender and name changes in NJ.
