Title: voice feminization surgery and no tracheal shave??
Post by: jollyjoy on March 11, 2015, 11:18:02 PM
Yeson recommend that I do not get a tracheal shave if I want to get their voice feminization surgery. Yeson told me some of their past patients' results were not satisfactory because they had gotten a tracheal shave.

I really want to get both procedures but am scared that the tracheal shave will give me a bad result from Yeson.

Just wondering whether any of you have gotten great results from Yeson's VFS even if you got your tracheal shave before or after the VFS?

Jenny who was the first posting about VFS at Yeson here had IIRC a trach shave before the VFS. Dr Kim then did a bit more shortening of the vocal folds to compensate for that. AFAIK Dr Kim does trach shave himself if you ask him, he would then do it in a way tha tis more careful and with the VFS in mind. It may not be as agressive as it would be without the VFS in mind, I guess.
Another option is to ask at the FFS specialists at Facial Team - they communicate with Dr Kim and apparently have good connections to him when it comes to taking care of using intubation for anaesthesia that does not hurt a larynx changed by VFS before and I think I heard that they also can do a trach shave that is compatible, but you would really have to ask them yourself. I can just say what I heard from others as I did not need a trach shave yet.
