Don't get me wrong, i'm very thankful i can get lupron...but the shots are SO PAINFUL afterwards. Any advice anyone? I get the 3 month dose in my thigh, and i got it yesterday. It hurts like hell and i can barely walk
You might:
ask them if its possible to use a smaller gauge needle
not use the muscles of the leg they are injecting, relaxing the muscles, standing on the other leg
ask them if they might massage the spot a bit before and after... if that would help...
it also might depend on the person giving the shot... well you might tell, or ask another person...
hugs
Injection sites tend to hurt in general, so it's probably not specific to the type of medicine. I've found that my leg feels a little weak immediately after and there is some discomfort when weight is put on it, but nothing that would stop me from being active. The day after I usually have a lot more pain and marked discomfort when moving.
Take an anti-inflammatory medicine. Try to relax the leg as much as possible. What really helped me after the first one was a round of TENS therapy over the most painful part of my leg. You can buy a TENS unit for around $50 at any pharmacy. It just delivers tiny electric shots to the muscle. I typically use mine for back pain, but found it helpful with the injections as well.
