QuoteGenerally men have a much longer stride than women. Their arms swing back and forth, palms pointed slightly backward. Each step is bluntly taken as if anything in the path will bend to their will. With every step, the heel firmly hits the pavement, and the bulk of their weight is instantly transferred to the new step. The shoulders will move forward with each stride, and the male will often look down.
I was looking at the how to walk like a woman section in the Wiki of Susans. I wanted to point out some things about how I notice people walking.
1. Men for sure have a longer stride, they are taller and usually bulkier and usually charge on through. But I have seen some women also take blunt steps and charging to catch the bus or get to a meeting, i think this kind of walking is more dependant on situations vs body type or mind set.
2. Arms swinging back and forth. Both men and women do this to varying degrees. Just have a seat at a bench in a big city and you will see it. I have seen women flailing about wildly while some men barely move the arms while walking.
But for sure most men do not glide, or sway or swish, or have there hands all dainty like. When I read the whole section, I realized I was a blend of these traits. I for sure look up and smile most of the time and enjoy my surroundings.
If you haven't seen this, it's really shows the difference in walking styles.

:o wow neat
i noticed that if your happy and also thin, you tend to sway your hips more than the reverse, regardless of gender. I am still checking out all the options. I see that its based on 40 peoples movements.
I was quite shocked to learn, I've always walked, and ran like a girl. Of course that was before I learned I was born Intersex. :-)
Now I wonder if the fact I was bullied and chased in grade school was partly due to how I walk which is not of a typical guy.
I am more professional and dressy up style, I guess, and I wear pumps a lot of the time. Wearing pumps not only helps burn extra calories and tones your thigh muscles, it also nearly makes it impossible to stride guy style... tried walking with long strides in pumps??? I take short small steps, and when I am not wearing them like at home or I wear my girly boots, I tend to keep with the smaller steps.
Standing, I keep my feet mostly together. I never space my feet out, keeping inner thigh close together is key. When sitting, I keep my legs together or crossed, naturally, because I am generally wearing a dress or skirt xD
I don't think I could ever wear pumps, but boots for sure. In fact You inspired me to get some boots as I have none at all,
You got to be careful not to go overboard with do this or do that like a woman. Things aren't as stereotypical with mannerisms as they used to be. There is a lot more of a blend now. If you watch people, you will see many women stomping about not all that differently from men. And avoid any exaggeration of movements, that can look too put on.
In my case, I'm a pseudo hermaphrodite, so I'm physically female. So I walk like a girl.
I've done high heels, twice and had no problems. Of course I learned how to walk in them when I was seven, and had no high heels to practice with.

Kleinfelters with feminine hips here, so walking like a girl is something I've always done (and was teased about in my sophomore years in HS.) With my long legs though I do walk fast :)
Walking like a guy will out you pretty quickly. I have seen several videos lately of trans women that had a distinctly male walk and it was very apparent - legs wide apart and shoulders forward were very apparent.
Women's statures and the way they carry themselves are different than men. The center of gravity on a woman is around her hips while with guys it's around their shoulders. Women walk more upright and slower/more deliberate while men lean forward and hurry, leading with their shoulders and powering their way through while taking up space. Women sway their hips and men don't. Men walk more stiff and rigid while women walk languidly, letting things move and sway.
I can say that walking like a guy is very hard to do in heels LOL..... but you can still walk rigid and stiff in heels and that will out you. Let the body sway and move.
Walking like a female just takes practice. If you can video yourself walking you can see where you need improvement pretty quickly. Going full time also helps you to step up your walking game pretty quickly
I tend to look at the ground when I walk, but only when at work, and only then when I'm outside. My OCD makes it impossible for me to step directly on a line where two sidewalk pavers meet...I HAVE to step over the lines. It's a real pain...but even so, my walk has a lot of hip motion. I sway a little bit if I don't consciously control it...one of the downsides of having to present as male at work.
I always walked with my hips.. but you need to be careful not sway your hips too much...
I also wear a lot of high heel shoes, I love my 6inch platform boots.. I actually got the hang of heels quite easily... I can wear them all day no problem.. I even run in my heels.. My roommate says I glide effortless in my heels.. You cant walk like a guy in heels..

My theory is that a lot of these different behaviors come down to biology. Little boys and girls pretty much move the same way. Adult guys have some pretty sensitive bits between their legs, explaining how they cross their legs and walk. I found it hard to cross my legs properly until the spiro really kicked in. Women's centers of gravity and the sensitive bits they carry on their chests affect their movement, too. For us, some of the changes are liable to come automatically, others, such as gait, will have to be practiced. We still tend to walk to protect sensitive bits that have shrunk or been removed.

Given the methodology I would be skeptical of whether it really gives meaningful results for combinations of extreme values of the parameters.
