Hi everyone,
Information for those of us transitioning later in life is limited, and this includes pictures of older transmen and their physical transition. Maybe its because there aren't as many of us out there or we aren't technologically savvy or maybe we've reached an age where we are more private and less out there.
Whatever the reason, I wish I could find more before and after of people over 35 who've started T. Anyone fall into that category and want to share their before and after pics here?
I figured 35 was a good age since I don't look my age of 45. I'm starting T in two weeks (and I know everyone's transition is different) but I'm interested in seeing the results in others near my own age My search online hasn't yielded many results.

I cannot seem to muster up the courage to post pictures, but I can tell you that change for me has been slow and mildly disappointing. If I had started this process at 20 instead of 40, I am fairly certain I would have more of the masculinization that I desire. That being said, I have no regrets, as I am living my life true to myself now. It has been difficult being a man in mid-forties who looks like a teenage boy...it really throws up a red flag. And, like you, I have always looked young for my age. There are some middle aged guys on youtube that might reveal some visual transition insights for you. Good luck with your journey...

I'm "only" 32. Realized I was transgender late last year and saw the Endocrinologist last week. I have to sort out some insurance tidbits, but hopefully soon can make an appointment with the Gender Psychologist. I'll be around for a while. :D

I am 45 and have just started myself, so I don't have much to offer you in terms of experience. What are you concerned about in terms of transitioning later? If we will look like any other middle aged guy? haha

It have found it very hard and draining to transition professionally at this age.
I hear you. I was 42 when I decided I needed to transition, started T just over a month ago. I'm 44 now. Most transition videos and pics I see are of much younger guys. I'll post a pic if I can from my phone, but since it's only been a month, there's nothing to see.

It's kind of late right now, I'll post tomorrow (really should get a two year post-T picture anyway), but I transitioned medically at 65. I never was read as male pre-t and now I am nearly read 100% male. There is no such thing as too old. (My avatar picture is maybe 1 1/2 years on T.)
I still don't look my age, but I'm in no rush. :D

2011 pre-T and something like a year and a half on T. It's kind of interesting as I think I have the same smile on both pictures. (BTW, my clone Brett mentioned my FB group. This is over 40 guys only. But there is a FB group Trans men over 30.)

I'm just shy of 39 and can't see beginning to transition for a long time (family, job, all those adult responsibilities and complications), so I'm interested to follow along with this thread. Nice that there are some older guys on here who transitioned later in life.
I am 30 and I am 3 weeks on T. I really haven't change alot but i know that transitioning takes time. I am also worried that i decided to transition too late but i am hopefully that I will get good results. Hopefully i will be able to post before and after pictures to help when im further along in my treatment.
Wkly, I started at 30 as well. I'm almost 16 months on T now. I worried about being "too late" as well, but it honestly has been great. Even if nothing changed physically, I would still not trade it for the peace I feel in my brain with the testosterone. But you will definitely see some changes.
Full disclosure, I passed as male probably 70% of the time if I didn't open my mouth before I started T, but taking it has definitely changed my voice, my body structure and obviously hair. I pass 100% of the time now. It's never too late :)
Too late, never. Got to say though I am not a person with a lot of regrets and doubts. I'm very happy with transitioning.

I am 38years old and anticipate starting T in the fall of this year...add me to the list of older guys who are working their transition around family and career ;)

I'll be 40 in May... Started T in June 2013, and had Top Surgery a year ago, all of which have been really good to me. I'm still not passing 100%, mostly due to my large shapely hips (whee). I hate pictures, but if its useful here they are (I have very very few pictures from before the start of my transition heh). I'm thankful to be transitioning, despite the fact it took me so long. I spent most of my life deeply suicidal and I'm now happier than I've ever been or hoped to be. :) Transitioning while in the midst of a long career (I've been in the tech industry for over 20 years) has been the hardest part of this; I have some fun interview horror stories.

Thanks all for the replies...sorry work got the better of me this week and I haven't been back until now...Yes my subject line was confusing when I look back at it. I am 45 but everyone says I look to be around 35 so I was looking for people over 35 who had transitioned.

I had my physical today from my doctor and my first T shot will be on 4/2. So excited. Thanks everyone for sharing and I can't wait to see those of you who are just starting like me!

zanbuck, how long ago was the first picture? Meaning, if the second picture is recent, was the first picture much before June 2013?
It was a few months before, approx April 2013. I have so few pictures of myself before I started my transition so I'm pretty sure of the date. I look a lot younger because I used to dye my hair. I don't bother anymore, I'm starting to like the grey temples. ;) Also, I've lost about 45 lbs in the last two years which helps.
The differences between the pictures is so subtle sometimes I wonder why I pass at all. I'm really hoping facial hair growth speeds up within the next year.

Ok, the weight loss and the fact that you stopped dying your hair puts the pictures more into perspective. It is so funny that you don't think there is much of a change between the two pictures when it was my being startled by the changes that prompted the question. haha
You going from brown hair to gray threw me off because I never had any gray until I started T. I only have a few gray hairs, but they popped up within a couple of weeks beginning T, so I wondered if there is a connection. It has been 6 months of low/regular dose T and more haven't come in, so it must have just been coincidence.

I agree Brent! Big change ZanBuck! Also I have some grey hairs before T which I start in less than a week. Hope they don't multiply quickly!
ZanBuck, aside from the obvious haircut and colour, your weight loss does show, plus I don't think are wearing makeup in the second pic? Your eyebrows look more normal "guyish" (less trimmed/manicured, which is more of a female thing in general) and the frames of your glasses help too. The overall effect of the little things makes the whole pass that much more. Looking good!
camron, I've got a bevy of before pics, but no afters yet, since I'm pre-T, but I will say this, I LIKE my pictures more since the trans* penny dropped. Before I realized I am FtM There was always SOMETHING off about my pictures and I hated them. I always thought it was that my face is lopsided and that showed up more in freeze frame, but it's that I was trying to see a girl, where a boy wanted to be! I'll put together a timeline run of photos later.

Thanks all, I appreciate the feedback. :) Dysphoria has been kinda bad lately so it's definitely appreciated.
I was coloring my hair to hide the grey, so it's taken me a while to get over that. It's funny how much more I care about my looks than I used to. I never wore makeup except for costumes and drama, but the weight loss and working out has made a real difference in my facial appearance I think (a lot less soft).
Also thanks for starting this thread camron, I know a few trans guys in my area but they are all young and I occasionally get a little jealous when I should just be happy for them. It's nice to see others in my age range. Congrats on starting T in a few days! It made a huge difference for me, even if it's not as noticeable as for some. My doc says that varies person to person and not so much age.
I haven't gotten together before and after pics yet but I am 47 and just started my transitioning 4 months ago. I have been doing a blog (I'm not a great blogger but...) and have been trying to include pics as I go. If anyone in interested. I know I was having a hard time to find older guys that I feel I could relate to in transitioning.

Thanks for the thread, y'all :) I just turned 39 and I'm hoping to start t some time next year. Not sure it'll be before I turn 40, but I'm not just yet letting go of that idea. Anyway, hopefully I'll be able to share pics in the future. Everyone here on the thread looks really good!

I very much appreciate you guys putting yourself out there with pics for us "older" guys.
I am 6 months on T, but it was only for one month (at month 3), that my testosterone levels were in male range. When I was about to come out at work, I needed to go back into the closet for a bit, so I ran back to low dose. Subsequently, I have no real change in my face. I am now out, but have only been on full dose for 3 weeks. I am now chomping at the bit for changes.
I will join you all in sharing pictures when I start I start to see some changes.

We do have almost the same T start date :) I have never had a T level done. The clinic that prescribed my T said they wouldn't order the test unless I really wanted it. They prefer to have me listen to my body. If I feel things are not progressing as the should, they will up the dose. If things are too fast or other lab work looks bad they will lower the dose. They did initial labs and once last month - I have remained at my initial starting - weekly injection- dose.
My biggest changes have been from within! I was very ill for a lot of years prior to starting T. I felt better almost immediately! I have physically felt better than I have in many years! For this reason, I have become totally selfish and really don't care what anyone else thinks, says or does! I am alive again and really living for the first time in over a decade. Appearance wise, I could pass as male prior to T and was blessed with a fairly low voice too. But my second and most obvious change would be my voice - it just continues to get deeper. My mother had to be convinced it was me on the phone the other day LOL.
Just be patient and enjoy the changes as they come. Even light working out and you will notice the increase in strength :)

I just turned 38 and has been on T for 6 weeks, I haven't notice much changes except muscle mass and hair everywhere. Perhaps the voice dropped a little bit like I'm having a cold. I'll try to upload some photos when I hit 3 months.

Sounds about right. I sounded like i had a cold for about the first three months. Like I said - my most noticeable changes have been how I feel more than how I look - but I am still loving every minute of it and looking forward to every Monday (shot day) 8)
