I was just listening to a radio commentary on what side of the bed do you sleep on and can you change sides if your partner wants you to swap sides?
Thought it may be a laugh.
For the record I'm a rightie.
Belive it or not, across the bed.
I have a king size bed, yet I always curl up across the bed
The right side of the bed. The left side is against the wall so I never choose that side.
Mariah
The right side at home where either side is open but the right side is closer to the door and has my alarm clock. At the girlfriend's I'm on the left side which is up against the wall, or as I refer to him, my friend Wallbert :)
I sleep the furthest away from the wall. I have always done that. When my sister was living with us, she made me sleep next to the wall and I didn't like that. She would always complain that I sleep too close to her. That wall was cold, and it still is, especially since some of my windows are broken so air gets through there. I hope my future wife prefers to sleep on that side, but if not, then I will gladly swap sides to accommodate her out of sacrificial love.
I am ambidextrous. I sleep right, left, or middle depending on my whims. :)
I sleep alone mostly, and have a king size bed, so i sleep in all weird ways, but i generally find myself on the right side...
So if I stand at the foot of the bed and look I am on left, but in bed Iam on the right so ius it to right or left coukd be either.
With that said I sleep entirely on a different side as I did with my x. Just felt more comfortable with that.
Right side since it's right next to the wall and I like to have my back against it.
Jee lots of beds against a wall!!
Ahh are singles the ones with beds against the wall?

Guilty.
While facing the ceiling, I sleep on the left hand side in Scotland always, and the right hand side in Florida always.
Left if your looking towards the headboard as its closest to the window... Unless I am somewhere where the window is to the right ;)
L Katy
On the top side.
I have found the underside to be a bit cramped.
If I'm alone, both. I move around constantly when I sleep, switching sides frequently. Also, I cannot sleep in a bed that is up against a wall, because I sleep with my arm outstretched.
If I'm with my partner, whichever she's most comfortable with and cuddles the best. <3
Left hand side even though I sleep in a 3ft wide single bed. I don't like sleeping in a bed that's against a wall either.

Anywhere, I can sleep anywhere. I haven't had a bed for the last five years just a sleeping bag. I only sleep in beds when I'm house sitting or at a hotel. I'm Always alone so which side of the bed only matters in relation to where televisions are pointed.

I usually sleep on the sofa. If I do sleep on the bed, I will sleep on the right as you look at the headboard, on the very edge. I have woke up laying across the night stand. :)
I sleep from corner to corner usually, although I do move around a lot during the night.
I sleep on the right side, by the door. I do not have my bed (side)against the wall, because I have a table on each side. Which are crowded. I also sleep alone.
When viewed while in bed...I'm a lefty.
I can swap sides, but "spooning" is awkward, because my left arm isn't a flexible as my right.
The. Whole. Thing.
I go to sleep in a ball, usually wake up spread out. It seems in my sleep my body tries to maximize its surface area to cover as much of the bed as possible :P
On the right side (if laying on your back). We have lived in several different places and have always placed the bed so that the left side of the bed is conviently faced in the room for my wife. She got used to the left side early in our marriage and has always been against change.
It ends up depending upon how the bed is situated in the room. As a general rule, I sleep on the right side, but my fiancee prefers to be by the wall, so if the bed sits with one side against a wall I end up sleeping on the opposite of whatever side that might be. We tried the "bed in the middle of the room" arrangement, and it just too up too much floor space in this tiny little trailer. At the moment, it's situated with the left side against the outer wall, so I sleep on the right.
I always sleep on the right side and mostly end up lying on my side at the very edge of the bed because I'm used to sleeping in a bed suited for 1 person with my boifriend, and I prefer them to be on the "safe" side so they wouldn't fall or anything. Though we can both sleep on the other side as well but I end up to be the one to turn off the light so I get in bed last anyway.
When single, usually down the middle.
When I have company, the side away from the wall. I hate feeling trapped between two things, a fear that was only moderately lessened by countless nights sleeping in a coffin rack on a submarine.
I usually start on the right, but by the time I wake up I've occupied the entire bed over the course of the night/morning.
Also, the cord from Mr. Hum doesn't reach all the way to the right of the bed.

Depends on a couple things, first, I have a bed but rarely sleep in it. Second, depends which side of my sinuses are stuffed up the most.

I sleep at the left side. It's the side closest to the walls, but there's a set of cubbies seperating my bed and the wall. I find it's much comfier and cosier in the corner, since my room is quite small.
I sleep on the opposite side my wife sleeps on. She prefers to sleep the furtherest away from the door, so that usually put me closest to the door. When I sleep, I usually wake up in the same position I fall asleep in. My wife on the other hand I think tries to run a marathon in her sleep. She once actually wore out a hole in the sheets where her feet were.
I sleep on my left side and my wife sleeps on her right side, so we decided years ago to avoid breathing in each other's faces that I would take the right side of the bed (looking at it from the foot) and she takes the left. My Boston Terrier, aka: Miss Dogmerica, sleeps in the middle.

Hi Cindy, I'm a rightie. Seems the majority are also. Maybe has something to do with being right or left handed?
I have a twin sized bed, so I sleep in the middle. It's in an alcove, so there's really only one usable "side" anyway. I do occasionally swap which end is the head or foot of the bed, though.

6' 2" frame on a twin bed. Left side and head against the corner of the wall. In the middle with a bedding lifter I made to keep the covers off of my feet during the cooler months. CIDP, a type of peripheral neuropathy. Even a single sheet on my feet and lower legs will cause an extreme burning pain.
Joelene
left side against the wall on my back...most comfortable and away from my drafty window
however,
I always sleep on the right side next to the window if a friends sleeps with me
While the side of the bed doesn't necessarily matter, I always sleep either on my left side or on my back. As I tend to sleep on my left side, I prefer to be on the right side of the bed, so as to be the little spoon!

Good point, I'm right handed and often have a drink of water during the night and the glass is on the right hand side bed table!
And of course the vibrator is in the right hand draw
Lefty here. :)
I have no idea, but I'm generally on the right side when I wake up. (https://www.susans.org/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fthefiringline.com%2Fforums%2Fimages%2Fsmilies%2Ftongue.gif&hash=635dd8fbd198d13e75e7b21e12e5f405e686d654)
My dog permits me to sleep in the back right corner of the bed. The rest is hers.
I start on the left side but apparently I have a tendency to migrate to the middle in my sleep if my fiancée hasn't come to bed with me. At least judging from her complaining. :D
Before my cisfemale girlfriend moved in, I slept on the right. Now, since I get up really early in the morning for work, it's better to sleep on the left (closer to the door), to minimize any disturbance

I usually sleep on the left side of the bed. I very much dislike walls so if there is a bed against the wall I would switch to the right (only if by myself). We have a king so lots of room. My SO like the right side so I have the left(pretty much engrained pattern after 41 years of marriage). Come to think of it, I have always slept on the left even as a child.
I sleep on the left side zzzzzzzzz
On the right side, but it depends.
If the bed is against a wall I mostly switch places for whoever has to go up earliest in the morning.
Ok, this is probably going to sound weird, but I sleep on the floor on a sleeping bag, quite comfy and firm. (disclaimer: I'm a extreme minimalist and don't like to have things except dresses and a computer)
Well for me it depends a little if I have company. In general I always used to sleep in the centre of the bed on my tummy but since I have had breasts (B+ heading towards C Cup), sleeping on my tummy is out. At home I have a Queen size bed and tend to sleep on the right side (left as you look at it), unless I am travelling on business (then I always book a King size bedroom). Then I sleep in the middle. I also sleep on my left side (thats how I start when falling asleep). If I am on my own I like to wear PJs. The Airline I tend to fly in on International flights gives really soft cotton PJs to travellers in Business Class and I have maybe 20 sets so thats what I wear when alone, but if I am sharing my bed with a friend, then I always wear a Nightie - normally Baby doll - for ease of access to my companion.). If I am on my own I tend to also have a nice long bolster in the bed. I normally buy mine in Hong Kong or China as they generally have nice firm ones there with plenty of pretty colours available. When I get into my sleeping position, I always cup my left breast with my right hand and gently give it a nightly massage until I fall asleep (if I am on my own). If I am with a partner, I try to encourage them to do the great massage thing. - the trouble is that tends to lead to other things! - not including sleep as intended!
I have a queen sized bed and my head is on the left side and my feet on the right side. It's a habit I picked up when I had a full sized bed and it wasn't long enough for me to be comfortable laying correctly on the bed. On motor home trips I would sleep correctly in the bed and a queen sized bed was big enough but as I have the room, why not take advantage of it.
I sleep wherever...
My partner tends to roll around so what ever is open. She also tends to switch sides for some strange reason.
Jen
another righty who rolls around all night ;D
I'm part of a triad, and we all sleep together in a king bed.
Partner #1 MUST sleep against a wall. He can't sleep otherwise- we have literally moved the bed in a hotel so he can have a wall to face into.
Partner #2 sleeps in the middle- she's big on cuddles, and likes being sandwiched between us.
I sleep on the outside, always on the side that allows me to face out. Before we moved that was the left side of the bed (if you're standing at the foot), laying on my right side. Now, it's the right side of the bed, laying on my left side.
My bed is too small and thin to even have a left or right side so, the middle I guess haha
Left side. No particular reason, except that, the first time my wife and I slept together, that is the side I was on. It became "my" side. If we were to switch sides, it would feel weird.
im a lefty and sleep on the right side of a queen size bed...i for one love sleeping in a bed more comfy
diagonally across if i'm on my own, if not, diagonally across anyway the left most often
I sleep on the middle to left side of my bed, which is up against a wall. Depending on which way I face (usually the left with my back against the wall), my cat will occupy whichever side has the most room remaining. If I get up during the night which is almost always, I might sleep on the right side if the cat has migrated to the left.
I have a small single bed so I sleep on the left, right and in the middle ( I barely have 3 inches either side of me) and mostly on my left side. I need a new bed!
Left side and I could change long as I have someone to snuggle.
With love, caring and understanding, Melissa Marie
Depends on my mood. Seems when i am together with myself i sleep on the right side. When i am inside out, i find myself on the left side snuggled with my back against the wall.
Queen bed, I sleep on the left side (laying on the bed, face up, to the left).
Left side of our regular double :D
Right here. Or on the floor if we get the little ones joining in the morning

I have been sleeping on the couch for quite awhile now. When I used to sleep in the bed... I slept on the right side of the bed till I had to have surgery on my right shoulder, then I moved to the left side.
the left. i always sleep on the side that's against the wall.
Left side when standing at the foot of the bed. This is because I am right handed. This way I don't have to switch sides with a partner when we are getting down the business. >:-)
Always on left side when facing from the foot of the bed no matter how the bed has been placed in the room.
Generally sleep in the middle. Sleeping on a makeshift permanent bed out of a twin size futon, its started to give slightly to the center, therefore placing me in mid.
Sleeping single I sleep toward the wall side, when I was married I slept on the open side, which due to the fact I can't get comfortable sleeping on my right side caused cuddle conflicts.
Kate <3
I sleep on the right side. Portia always gets the left side of the bed.
I am always on the right side (facing up). My wife always prefers the left. When she is away, starfish middle is a favorite.

I sleep on the left and slobber all over my pillow. It's not pretty.
I have a huge bed, but I stay perfectly on "my" side. When I'm with someone we usually end up rotating depending on who was the last one to get out of the bed (or back in I suppose?). I'm ambidextrous to some extent so I'm happy either way, able to get comfortable on either side, and being next to the wall or not doesn't really matter to me.
Being the little spoon is fricking amazing though, so whichever side that requires :p

I like BOTH sides of the bed, but my S.O. always wants the left side for some reason. To make up for it after he gets up early I'll commandeer the left side for a couple of hours.

The side that is closest to the wall... seriously, anything else makes me fear falling out of the bed :D
The right....my 2 cats have claimed the left
There IS no side to it. It's a travel trailer sofa, about 20 inches wide... I sleep on both sides at night and almost never sleep on my back.
Floor, with an impromptu traditional futon setup. Actually thought about buying the real deal and shipping it from Japan, but its kinda expensive, and my setup works fine. My original suggestion of putting a piece of plywood on the kingsize bed went over poorly with the other occupant.
I just snuggle up to the wall if ther is one :3 as tight as I can.
If I'm laying the bed, I sleep on the right side which is against the wall. I'm paranoid about dropping my computer off the bed, so the further from the edge the better (they've been dropped multiple times). I also have dreams I'm fall off a cliff sometimes, and usually wake up almost falling off the bed.
If my cat decides to sleep with me though, I have to move more towards the middle as she likes the wall best. :)
After dealing with home invasion and fire situations and waking up to an SO hoovering over me with a butcher knife I tend to prefer sleeping alone
I tend to sleep on the side closest to my bedroom door, never place myself against a wall and there is always a fight or flight plan in place complete with at least one escape route
I've lived in some major cities and thought that moving to what I considered a nice small town would be a bit safer, I fear that I may have possibly been mistaken about that idea
always the side closest to the door (door 3/4 closed). and i sleep with keys next to my bed.. a couple of hefty items (and a thick wollie towel in the bottom draw) to chuck thru a window in case the fire alarm wakes me up and i cant make it down the hallway.. and the bed is allways on the widest wall in the middle.
if i am with someone, nothing like being held.. nothing, i sleep well that way..

To answer the OPs question;
I'm usually on the 'wall side.' (It gets chilly..)
Feng Shui views the left side of the bed as male (the girl normally sleeps on his left). If a guy is a restless sleeper it can help if he sleeps on his wife's side of the bed.
I am a trauma survivor so regardless of where I am sleeping, my back is always towards the wall so I can see the doorway.
I sleep on the left side of the bed. On the twelve inches that demark the side of the bed. Try to reclaim some room and I would end up with fists to the head. Keep in mind I have a king size bed. When I choose the body side I want to sleep on I must lift my body completely to the other side without trying to establish any more territory.

Funny story about beds: A long time ago I was at a friend's house for a sleepover, and she had a bunk bed. I had never slept in a bunk bed before, so I asked her if I could sleep on the top bunk, and she agreed. In the morning, I wake up and I'm in the bottom bunk; what gives? Turns out some time during the night, I fell out of the top bunk on top of another one of my friends and woke up everybody but myself. ;D
Hi Everyone
I sleep on the left side of the bed most nights But like last night I almost had to call the Fire Department as I had a hot flash so bad I thought the house was going to catch on fire. My Boy friend wants me to roll down the driveway to melt the ice.

My bed is against the wall, my partner gets up more often in the night than I do so she doesnt have to climb over me (like I do if I have to get up!) So left. We often swap sides though sometimes it doesnt really matter
middle or left or right okay spread all over it.

I.. am quite small.. but I take up the whole bed. I start in the middle though
Usually right side or what ever side is close to the door also in between where ever my 2 dogs sleep so basically all over
Kind of diagonally. Unless I sharing with either the cats or the dog, in which case its wherever they leave me room. Never underestimate how much of a bed hog a little 10 pound kitty can be.
In theory, I sleep on the left side of the bed, but in reality I sleep wherever my cat lets me. :p
The left side against the wall. I prefer the right side but my bf will not sleep against a wall.
I sleep on the left side closest to the wall. There's something weirdly reassuring about it, sleeping next to a wall.
I sleep on the left side. Always. Even when we're away somewhere. We have no wall on either side.
Don't care which side as long as I lean to the left
It's not really a choice for me....I just confirm to the little sliver of bed left once my dog is comfortable. :icon_cry2:

Lol its funny how much room a dog can take up. My dog is a tiny little thing but she manages to stretch her little body out enough to take a surprising amount of space. I pretty much sleep all over my bed.
for me typically the side closest the door (but i end up in the middle of the bed), the door 75% closed with an item that will be knocked over if opened and make lots of noise. (also one and each door entrance that will be knocked over if opened without causing obtruction but lots of noise) comes from boarding school days.
Ever since i have had my own place, all my own pets never let sleep in my room, they never allowed to cross the threshold. i have asthema and so hairs on bed is very bad. they did however have lovely soft sheep skin beds with fluffy blankets for winter.. and tooo see them climb in and either wait for me to cover them or flip it on themselves was too dam funny.
since my divorce i had to give up my pets, miss them dearly.

I sleep on the side furthest from the door if I'm in bed with someone else. Don't ask me why, it's just a thing
