Title: Time Frame - M2F Pre-surgical Down There Electrolysis
Post by: JessieBirdie on March 25, 2015, 06:19:50 PM
Hi,

So I've got an appt for GCS/SRS with Mcginn in late September and have been busy doing genital electrolysis with an electrologist I know in my area since the middle of the month.  I have yet to complete a full clearing after 2 weekly appts (a little more than 3 hours total) but I'm about 50-66% there on the first clearing, we've basically finished most of the north area--where most of the hair is (and coverage area by her diagram) and need to cover the rest next week.

Now I'm just really concerned about finishing the area before the surgery date--genital electo SUCKS but I know of course it really needs to get done.  Mcginn's site notes about 6 clearings in 6 months are recommended; Bowers' site (and Marci as we all know uses a similar, albeit less intensive diagram and surgical technique) notes a time frame 5-6 months and about 4-8 clearings.  We are ofc not doing this in super long 4-6 hour appts but in 1.5 hr to 2.5 hr stints.  EMLA doesn't seem to do much for me down there (probably because the hair is so deeply rooted) so we don't bother but I use acetaminophen and ibuprofen (Mental painkiller+NSAID) to numb some of the pain.

So based on your own experience of down there electro--how long did it take?

The thought of genital electro makes me want to crawl in a corner and die. The EMLA cream is useless so I find parts of the face nearly unbearable. Getting that area done....

I'm about to undergo electrolysis down there too and I'm wondering the same thing. According to brassard he says at least a year if you have electro I think. I'm guessing its to ensure there's no regrowth at all. What I'm really concerned about is that time period you're off hrt, does some of the hair return??

I didn't have any problems with regrowth (while off hrt before surgery) but then again I was lucky enough to have the person doing electro be licensed to use injectable lidocaine (so the power could be increased). At a minimum you'll need 2-3 months of no growth for best post surgery results although it's possible to redo if you're brave (at least 3 months post op).

edit: It took I want to say 6 months total counting prior laser treatment to reduce the amount/growth.

Oooooooo that's one thing I never thought about, - the need to have electrolysis before surgery.  Of course now I see it's completely obvious, but the thought of it literally makes my skin crawl.
