Title: Common-scents: What fragrances do you use?
Post by: mfox on March 28, 2015, 07:28:39 AM
One of the decisions you can make when you're presenting as male, female or androgynous is your scent.  How do you want to smell to other people and what signals does it send?

For example, I replaced my for-men shaving gel and deodorant once I realized how masculine they smelled.  I switched to unscented lotion, and decided on an androgynous perfume from Pacifica (Indian Coconut or Vanilla during the day).  At night I use a feminine Ylang-ylang fragrance from Le Labo since they're against animal testing like Pacifica.

I thought it might be interesting to hear what perfumes, scented lotions, body sprays and other products people use. :)

Ahhhhh

I just love Moschino Couture... I actually add some to my moisturizers which I apply all over... Yummy love it  :-*  :-*
It's actually out of production now, but I find it on Amazon and EBay time to time and buy it, think I'll weep the day I can't get it anymore.

Also use women's roll on deodorant, same one for many, many years... Rexona Confidence so subtelly scented

Aah love feeling feminine...

My favourite daytime scent {subtle, light and fresh}: Yves Saint Laurent`s "Rive Gauche" - which is a gentle, floral fragrance, with magnolia, gardenia and honeysuckle and combined with a blend of woody florals, sandalwood and oakmoss.

For an evening out {I prefer just a touch of an exotic scent}: Estee Lauder`s "Cinnabar" - with notes of jasmine, orange flower and clove blending to a spicy warmth.

or: Geurlain`s "Samsara" - jasmine. rose, narcissus and ylang-ylang, with the warmth of sandalwood, iris, tonka bean and vanilla.

......yet another one {of the many} joys of womanhood; freedom of "scent expression"  ;)

I'm a sucker for resins and woods when it comes to scents. Not so much aquatics. Too bad so many masculine scents veer into aquatics.

At the moment, my favorite daily smelly is Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab's Ü:
"A mélange of balsams, leathers, and raw vanilla designed to evoke images of unearthed secrets and dusty, ancient libraries."

My best friend recently turned me on to Givenchy's Play Intense:
Top notes: Bergamot and mandarin orange.
Middle notes: Amyris wood, pink pepper, and coffee wood accord.
Base notes: Labdanum, tonka bean, vetyver, and patchouli

This is a great thread! I'm really interested to hear what other folks like to wear.

I love Calvin Klein's Eternity and have ever since it came out in the 80s. I love smelling it on a woman and I love it on myself. It's pricy though. I don't usually wear perfume on a daily basis, just Secret deoderant. This thread makes me realize I should buy more perfume!  :icon_cool:

I have yet to change what I wear so at the moment I'm still using Luck by Avon. I really like how it smells and everyone else seems to like it...so far. I was in Hastings a couple days ago when a woman walked past me, stopped, spun on her heels and came back then sniffed the air and asked me if it was me that smelt so good. Ofc I blushed and felt a little embarrassed but it was kind of cute too. =d There is a "for her" version that is suppose to be even better...I'm going to try it when I run out of what I have. =D

Giorgio by Beverley Hills. I wear it all the time and it doesn't clash with all the other scented products I use like my cherry blossom deodorant or hand lotions. It's a sweet smell but not flowery in any sense. I loved their perfume but now all they sell is a body spray. It still smells the same.

Beautiful by Estee Lauder and Cashmire mist by Donna Karen.  My wife doesn't wear perfume but always sniffs me and smiles.  I always buy at xmas to take advantage of make-up kits at a really low price.

Ysatis by Givenchy

It's retro, rare and hard to find.  It may have even been discontinued.

Degreee anti perspirent/deoderant, "Just Dance". (It's the only fem deoderant that has a black body + pink top)

From Bath and BodyWorks (I think that's the name of the mall store) "Twilight Woods" body wash.

And then a spritz of a perfume on the arms and center chest. (I don't recall the names at the moment Body Fantasies/Japanese Cherry Blossom).

And of course I use scented lotion on exposed areas, sunblock in the summer.

And ChapStick (cherry is my fav).

My one extravagance when I was putting my life back together was Chanel perfume.  I really don't remember which one it was now, but it made me feel good when ever I wore it.  These days though I buy toiletries with a lavender scent.

Sunday Cologne from Byredo Parfums is my absolute favorite. To me it smells like citrus and pepper, unusual, expensive, and a little bit mean.

It's technically unisex, though I didn't choose it for that. Most scents marketed toward women I just can't wear. They always seem somehow heavy on me, if that makes any sense, and I feel almost nauseous after an hour or so of wearing them. I don't like scents that are too sweet or too floral, and I balk at the idea of smelling "nice," "soft," "pretty," or "harmless." I ike to imagine that I smell almost venomous, a femme fatale killer assassin instead of a sweet and tender-hearted princess.

I actually loved Old Spice always, pre-trans epiphany and after.  The original is my fav but I like that their scents are subtle most of the time.  Like Spooky said above, I am not a huge fan of heavy scents either! I'd rather smell nothing or even faint natural human smell over heavy perfume of any kind.  I don't even like dryer sheets or most air fresheners because they give me headaches, so it's nice to have something I barely notice when I first put it on. :D

My current perfume of choice is Pink Sugar by Aquolina. I've gotten quite a few nice comments about it. :) I also use some hand sanitizers from Bath & Body Works, usually the coconut or apple scents. And then for soap and deodorant, both are Dove cucumber & green tea scent.

Paris by YSL is my go to fragrance when I get the urge.. Although I'm leaning towards their Black Opium also.

I´m absolutely into "Chance" by Chanel, occasionally I like to use "J´adore" by Dior, or "Eau de Cartier". Depends from my daily mood  :)

For me, a good perfume should accentuate my body scent,  it should blend  with it and it should come off natural. As if my perfume was actually an element of my body scent.

I have been completely hung up on Jessica McClintock by Jessica McClintock since 1994.  Everything else I use is frangrance free... soap, shampoo, deoderant, moisturizers, laundry detergents, everything!  Jessica McClintock (a soft, lovely blend of white flowers) is my signature scent and it has been for 21 years.

I love Guerlain's Shalimar, which I initially was underwhelmed by but which I grew to adore for its soft sensuality. I wish it was cheaper.

My go-to on an ordinary day is usually Dolce & Gabbana's The One or Marc Jacobs' Daisy Dream, both rollerballs, which is the form for applying scents I tend to prefer.

My favourite may be Tocca's Cleopatra, though it's a scent I've sometimes been told seems like it's for older women. I don't care, though--to me, it makes me feel queenly and elegant.

The freedom to use eau de parfum without getting negative comments is one of the small but wonderful things, for me, about being open about transitioning. Just putting on a certain scent can give me a different sense of self-assurance or self-perception, and it makes me happy to take a still-clean top or dress from the hanger and, on occasion, pick up a note of a fragrance I'd used the day or night before.

Most of the time, I wear Escentric Molecules "Molecule 01" since it's really subtle.  When I want something a little more up front, I'll wear Elizabeth James "Nirvana".

I had not used any fragrance, but I started to use one after my friend gave me as gift 2 years ago.
I am not quite sure how much this brand is popular, but gives off lovely odor of flowers or something herbal.
