Title: Tips on becoming more masculine/feminine
Post by: fitzyfoop on April 04, 2015, 03:08:07 PM
I think that this is something that some, or maybe many of us youbger members on here will appreciate, and I personally would. If anyone at all has any tips on becoming more masculine or feminine in the way you act, speak, walk or just anything! I hope that this can become a useful thread!

It's 90% mind set. When you feel more feminine, feminine mannerisms become more natural. But here are a few tips:

Arms and Hands: relax wrist and hand muscles. Let the fingers and wrists swing free. Keep elbows close to your sides.

When walking: Lead with your hips. Put hips into your movements.

Posture: Stand up straight. Don't lurch or hunch.

Speech: Put more emotion into your voice. Get in touch with the warmth you have for the world and let that ooze into your tone. Speak with more deference. Instead of "I want ...", instead "Would ... be OK with you?"

It helped me to watch women whom I thought were especially feminine. I learned an awful lot from a 16-year-old MtF who came to our support group whom I couldn't have clocked with a microscope.

For Becoming more Masculine- just a few tips:

1) Sitting. Unlike women, guys rarely cross their legs. You'll be better off sitting with your feet firmly on the floor and legs slightly spread.

2) Walking. Women tend to walk like they are on an invisible line maybe 1/2 a foot (or less) across. Men tend to walk on either side of this line. Men tend to swing their arms less and are tighter in the wrists. Try to lead more with squared hips, aka don't swing them.

3) Standing. This one is pretty simple: beware of putting your weight on one hip. This is an overtly feminine stance.

4) Conversation etc. Be confident. Make eye contact (don't be creepy though) and just say what you are thinking. Talk more directly, try not to pause as much. Men are much more direct in conversation.

This being said, not all trans masc peeps need to pass or even want to. Act more masculine as you see fit :)
